This ride is on Sunday - so I just thought it was worth its own discussion thread.

Have fun!

  • What sort of pace will the ride by..

    Thanks Gavin
  • Hi Gavin.it's a club ride so we stay together.....we usually take the first half easy about15-16's depending on who is on the ride....after lunch some opt for a faster ride and go off together...the rest stay together and ride at the pace of the slowest...hope that helps
  • I'll probably be on this one! Not ridden for quite a while but hopefully still got it in me =)

The route comes past Gamlingay at 30 miles, so I'll treat myself to a lie-in and leave home just after 10. I should meet up with the blue train somewhere near Everton Hill around 10.15.

    Route for those that haven't found it on the main Club website ;

    ooh err- what a scorcher!

    more to come Gavlar!

great route today- thanks Sir Bob!

tried to keep hydrated. i was so deluded that the water in the yew tree pub tasted like a cold stella.

funny enough, the two pints of water at the tuns also tasted strangely stella-ish!!

even more strange- my protein recovery drink tastes surprisingly like a chevrey chambertin 2001!!!

and my quinoa and salad tasted just like a 10 ounce rib-eye steak!

Michelle- special thanks for being at elmdon for us- the water there really tasted of water, but i have had no adverse effects!

    Scorchio!!

Great ride, route and company - I know I couldn't have done it on a fixie or with Stella as a mid-ride beverage!

Enjoyed a couple of malted recovery drinks when I got back home and a high protein BBQ to help the muscles recover.

Thanks to Michelle for doing the lunch run - we wouldn't have coped without it.

Also, thanks to all involved in organising, epecially Bob for the route and Geoff for not getting us lost this time!

    Cheers

these club 100's are a treat and a joy.....as long as we stay together enjoying the chat and company it all works out....sad that Bob chose to go with Andy the reverse way...great to see Bob back at the pub having done a 100 ( as he put it)
in my 70'th year....completed on his own....we picked up riders from the 15 mile TT in Cople...also Strappy just past Broom, Vic before and Dave after Everton Hill...sneaky lad missing the climb hahaha....we even met David Jones (Saturday bunch) just outside Buntingford going the reverse way, stopped and had a chat as we had just arranged a pick up for Jon C a youth rider suffering from some bad stomach cramps....great ride Jon especially as you had been grass track racing the previous day....good to see Gavin out on this ride...new member and riding strong....Jez...what a ride...racing on Saturday...15TT on Sunday and then doing the 100...respect....and as for Mark C doing the entire 100 on a fixed wheel bike in that heat...awesome. Never needed so much fluid on a ride before..what a corker of a day all ways...cheers guys
  • Thought that you were all looking remarkably fresh when I met you 75miles in. Maybe we should all be stopping for pints of Stella half way round !!!
