Club Run review - Sunday 18th January 2009

Another great turnout today by all accounts. 10-11 in both Bob's group and the middle group. And there were 9 in the fast group who left at 9am.

Great weather too for January - but very strong wind from the west.

Fast group did as per Carmelo's forum said: warm up through Langford then single 5 min rotations through Old Warden, Great Barford, Colmworth, Grafham Water then around to Offord Cluny, Abbotsley, Gamlingay, Wrestlingworth, Ashwell. 64 miles, 17.6mph [for me] as the group split for home from the hill north of Wrestlingworth. The mileage is what I need - but the pace is certainly tasty!

The Grafham ride was certainly a big challenge for me and I thank you all for helping me back. By the time I got home I'd put in 78 miles; which is a good to have done before lunch.

  • middle group did a longer version of the two bridges... great ride, good pace, two punctures and get this - an acrobatic squirrel!!! It fell out of a tree, over Malcolm's shoulder, under my front wheel, did two or was it three loops attached to I think one of the Dave's feet/crank, fell off again then under another couple of wheels!!! that has to be a first???
