Dear all,
Revolution Newsletter no 4 January 2009
We hope that you had a very Happy Christmas and are enjoying a prosperous start to the New Year in spite of all the economic doom and gloom.
We sent Santa a letter in December. The presents on our wish list werent really what you would expect to find in your stocking on Christmas morn, but we hope to see them take shape over the course of the year.
Now our thoughts turn to Hitchins Transport Plan. Will it be a genuine plan that addresses peoples needs and tackles the difficult questions ? Will it be implemented or will it be like the excellent 1998 plan a box to tick and then filed on a dusty shelf. The answers to those questions are in your hands.
In this issue:
? Dear Santa
? Maintenance - potholes and ice.
? Hitchin Transport Plan what we would like to see.
? Personal travel planning individual travel solutions for individual travellers.
? Road building and traffic growth the myths and the reality.
? How to cater for cycling on Britains roads the Hierarchy of Provision.
? $300 oil are you ready for it ?
? Easy riding staying warm.
? Considerate driving dip your lights.
? Facility of the month dismount, dismount, dismount, dismount, dismount, dismount .
? Good examples Copenhagen cycle lanes
Read it all by visiting www.northhertsctc.org.uk, click on the "campaigning" tab and you will find the links to the "Revolution" newsletter in ther top right hand corner.
We hope you find this newsletter interesting and thought provoking. "Revolution" is a "campaign tool" sent to all MPs and councillors in North Herts, as well as selected council officers. It is written for an audience of non-cyclists but we hope that local cyclists will also find the content interesting. If you have any questions or news, please contact me.
Would anybody from CCA like to write me a short article for the next issue (April ish) on the great work that CCA have been doing promoting kids grass track racing and "Go Ride" in Ashwell school ? Again, contact me (alasdair_massie@LineOne.net).
Alasdair Massie
