9.00am Sun club run - 7th Aug - 64 miles/18mph av?

Just a thought to bring to the 3T's car park for a 'medium' ride - a shorter, flatter version of the Brickhill ride. Should get a good kick back with the Westerly wind.

  • Guy's i will meet you at langford high street my first longish ride since i crashed week last sunday still hurting a bit but should be ok.
    strappy.
  • 15 out for this ride. Me, Trahern, Jez, Dave R, Phil A, Adam C, Jon S, Jon C, Decko, Steve, Pete, Jason, Tim H, Strappy and newish chap from Biggleswade - sorry - didn't catch the name.

All good stuff. Quite easy to recall names as we were spending two minutes on the front in a slow rotation for a while. Respect to our resident whippets Jez n' Dave who put in more than their fair share.

One puncture. And one bidon that had to be retrieved - thanks for waiting and for Pete for doing an Eisel to get me back on. Declan tried to tip-toe out of everything at Ampthill and turn around but we were onto his game and dragged him up Brickhill.

Overtook not one but two Veralum club runs. Maybe the there was a third one ahead who were 'avin it and we never saw them.

As predicted, there was a gentlemanly agreement at Barton le Clay that the gloves were now off and it was time for those what do 23-24 mins on Weds eves to push the nitro button. And so it split into groups for the tailwindoxide fuelled final 10-15 miles back from Higham Gobion. Within a mile or so I lost sight of the 6-7 fast boys - their helmets glowing white with atmosphere re-entry fire, and I came in alone in with 66 miles @ 19.2mph. I reckon the guys ahead could have tipped 20. Not bad when you think that Brickhill usually knocks you back a fair bit. It's August!

Well done to Jon C for getting on just fine, keeping his head down and staying off the front. Cheers Pete for guiding him back home.

A fair bit of singing going on today. I think these 60-65 distances suit a lot of people right now.
  • Nice one Martin..........thought there were a lot of you today..........5 out on the shorter club run..Steve,Bryn,Gino,Neil and self.......flattish route...43 miles at 16.3....everyone took turns and we did some proper chain gang stuff although not like you Tuesday boys..a bit more sedate but still fun.

Great ride today, not been out for ages and it felt like it!

Thanks Tim for the motivation up Brickhill, and thanks again for the train that was sold the dummy as everyone else turned right when we went left - doh!

Legs gave out on way into Barton-le-clay, Strappy kindly gave me a gel and towed me through Stondon; cramped up on the A507 but still made it back with an average of 18.7 for 70 miles; which is pretty good for me.

Best of all - we missed the rain!
  • Great to be out guys, good ride, yes indeed as Martin said, first time a rider struggled to escape from the bunch – from the rear !!. Thanks for waiting a couple of times, I finally pulled the eject lever on that small incline coming out of Woburn, legs like jelly – too many weeks of barbeques, beers and beaches. Enjoyed the ride back, soft pedalling in the sun, went for a bit of distance, hoping the miles will shake off summer excesses, had 85 miles clocked up by the time I reached home, hope to be out next week, Dec
  • cheers martin
