Medium ride - Sun 14th Aug / 61 miler?

A thought for a ride - a small mash-up of Bob's Spring ride - ping out to Rickling/Manuden back to Buntingford and Dane End and back from Benington. 61 miles.

    9 out. All gravy. Me, Tim H, Phils A & K, Adams C and H, Jon S, Peter G and chap on a white Planet X - sorry - didn't catch the name. Tim Hector - doing a better steam engine impression than Ringo Starr - was a bit of a hero stringing it out to help get us to Rickling Green with an av of 20.2. Good to have him back and feeling pretty good.

    The about turn thru Manuden didn't really see us drop it too much in the headwind - and it kept going along nicely. A few village sign sprints - Pete going well - best one being Jon S's 'let's wait up... Sprint yah to that sign!' switcheroo. Good that we kept it together til a split after Nasty. 6 ploughed on to the full route. It was "buy one sprint - get two free" in the run-in to Slip End. Maybe the heat was getting to Phil, Jon and Tim H? I watched at the back.

    We are all enjoying this good weather, 61.5 miles, 19.3mph av. No incidents - and back at 12.25pm.

    A good route - probably for decent weather only - some minor roads. I'll do that one again. It's good to see a few riders stepping up to this ride: extra places to hide in the Autumn/Winter!

    We did a steadier ride which turned out to be 51 miles at 16.7 with 9 in ride.......everyone was up for the longer so I adjusted a planned route and we ploughed on with 3 stops for punctures and a comfort break..........route Littlington/Meldreth/cross A10/fowlmere/Newton/Harston/Haslingfield/Barton/Comberton/Long road/Hardwick/Chiderley Gate/left to Bourne/Right to Longstow/past L.Gransden airport/left to Hatley/croydon hill and back through Wendy/Abington P. /Littlington and home......all in good soirits and some very pleased to do the longer distance ..well done everyone especially Jane....Jon,Tim,Jane,Roy,Gino,Mark C/Vincent/Me/Richard.......
