Sun 21st Aug - 9:00am Medium ride suggestions

Light westerly wind, so...

Finchingfield? Here is the shortest way there and back I can fathom. 67 miles.

Or, given the 9:30 riders are going to Grafton Water, maybe we do the opposite for a bit of choice - down, down to Bayford, two-thirds the London commute, and loop back thru the middle of Hertford. Route 60 miles.

See you at 9:00am

  • both excellent routes. both above my limits but pending approval will try to make the ride and hang in as long as possible.
  • Martin, sorry change of plan. Not able to join you all today but have an excellent ride. Too much going on at home this weekend.
  • No probs Vince. Might see you on the playground later: have a good day.
  • OUCH...........thanks Martin, Trahern and crew for a fast hard ride....11 out on a fine morning..70 miles.out past Saffron Waldon/Radwinter/Linton/Balsham/Fulbourne/Shelfords/Barrington and Home....Thanks to Dave for hanging back and bringing me back to the bunch...the flat is fine it's the hills at speed that kill....good ride supportive but had to say goodbye to the bunch at Haslingfield...clock said 56miles at 19.4mph av at that point......my ride finished with 70 miles at 18.5 av.
  • Terrific ride - thanks Trahern. Skirting towards Finchingfield but then towards the Bumpsteads and around to get the brilliant road/runway to Fulbourn [Pete took the sprint]. Everyone took their turn. Dave and Tim H doing more than their share - appreciated. 11 out. 70 miles @ 19.gr8 mph av. Fastest club run of the year for me. Back 12.45pm. Route.
  • Top route thanks Dave for the tow home nice one :-) well done all.

Apologys to all for my burpiness and general windyness. Dont eat a mean fish curry washed down with Belgium Duvel Larger and strawberry beer, the night before a long ride.

Made it home ahhhhh system now purged.....
  • for the record...Tim H/Martin/Justin/Strappy/James D/Peter/Trahern/Iain F/Dave/Steve/me...........TMI Tim...such culinary delights
  • thanks all for a cracking ride when you all put the hammer down that was it for me either i am getting slower or your all getting faster.
but anyway i enjoyed it as usual i limped back to ashwell with ian & james a big thanks to ian for filling my bidons i was running on empty.

I finished with 90 miles @ 18 avg lost a fair bit of speed in last 20 miles so,pedaling squares as they say.
I will see you all next week.

    cheers
    strappy.
  • Great ride but it did hurt for the last 20! Nice inclusion of Col de Barrington however I couldn't respond to those who could put the hammer down on it. A few weeks misbehaving and have been found out. Thanks Strappy and Foulkesy for hanging on till I got my breath back. That was a long drag from haslingfield to home. Told off for being late for the roast but worth it :) let's hope the weather stays good for a while yet.
