I have a race report and picture here from Carmelo;
Have to tell you about my holiday in Italy.....took my bike of course and my mate told me to bring my license as there was a race...only my 2nd day in Italy and off we go....10 euros to enter you get a goodie bag with racing socks,nice bottle of Primitivo wine,packet of coffee,vouchers for coffee and other stuff..I was ready to go home there and then but best of all CLOSED ROADS!...proper town finish with banners and crowds etc...
max temp of 39.44!...all cats mixed together (juniors,elites,vets)sorted out by photo finish at the end.....riders from Poland,Denmark...all sorts..
120 riders....very fast as there were drags but not real hills (avg 28mph)...it was so hot I though I was going to die and I just wanted climb off after 1 mile!....didn't attack once as I had no confidence in the heat so just followed the right wheels...got up there with a half hearted sprint at 12th so was relatively pleased...at the end..water melons,grapes and pasta a plenty...
THEN my name is announced and I get this huge trophy for 3rd best vet!..picture with the Mayor.started wondering if I get UCI points!pleased but bemused...especially hearing them trying to pronounce CC ASHIWELLIE!...
