Newbie - Apologies if this is in the wrong place

edited August 2011 in General
Hi,

I couldn't really see where to post up this type of thread, so apologies if it is the wrong place :-(.

I have been mtb'ing for a good few years and recently bought my first road bike :-) and I really fancy finding a group to ride with on a regular basis as I am finding rinding on my own hard work.

There seems to be a lot of organised rides and it is looking like a 9:30am Saturday ride is the place to start?? If so, do I just turn up and make myself known?

Cheers

Mark

  • Hi Mark

Absolutley the thing to do to 'test the water' as it were. You wont get dropped if it's too tough, and if it's too easy you can find a tougher ride on Saturday or Sunday next week!

Either way, you will get a warm welcome

    Cheers
  • Hi,

    OK :-) Good news.

I will keep an eye on the Saturday Club Runs forum then to see what is happening this weekend.

    Cheers

  • Hi Mark and welcome.

It looks like you've joined just at the right time mate for the "introductory" ride on Saturday, I hope it goes well mate and may see you some time soon, have a good one,

    Nigel.
  • Cheers :-)

As there isn't anything in the Saturday club runs forum can someone please confirm the start time and location of the 'introductory' ride :-)

    Many thanks

    Mark
  • Mark,

I've volunteered to take the introductory ride this Saturday, so can say with confidence that the start time is 0930 and the location will be the Three Tunns pub (details on the forum).

I'm planning on a route of around 20 miles and will be going at the pace of my 9 year old son, who will be accompanying me, which is usually in the 12 - 14 mph average range.

Nothing strenuous I can assure you.

If you want to go a little bit further or faster. Why not try the Saturday Club run which should leave from the same place at the same time and I think they ride at about 15mph average and go 30-40 miles. I'm sure there'll be a post on the subject closer to the time.

If you need any further information, just post it here.

    Peter.
