edited October 2011 in General
It's that time of year again folks......Tuesday evenings Ashwell School Gym...6.00pm till 9.00pm

Roller and Turbo session..6.00pm to 7.30pm

Circuit training with Andrew Skeen 7.30pm to 9.00pm

The cross-fit sessions with Andrew will start sharp at 7.30 and probably finish around 8.30
These are essential winter training for core strength and speed work

Roller and turbo mainly for youth, but anyone welcome who wants to learn to ride rollers or wishes to turbo in company...better than in your cold garage alone.

Youth 12 or under £1 per session
Youth 16 or under £1.50 per session
17+ ..£2 per session

STARTING next Tuesday 11th October....

Hoping to see you all again to pick up where you left off in April..........as Andy would say...be there or be square

Bring your own bike/rollers or turbo...the club has a turbo and some rollers for those without

  • Hello everyone.

I'm back from the US and ready to rock and roll.

If you've never tried the wintertime cross training sessions, please consider coming along. Everyone in the club is welcome!

The sessions follow a fairly standard format of a careful directed warmup, followed by circuit training with some fun "surprises" to keep things fresh. At the end we have a careful directed stretching session.

Altogether, the sessions is designed to:
    - offset the problems that can arise if you just cycle for fitness, including lack of flexibility, back problems and neck shoulder pain.
    - Increase overall cardiovascular and musculature fitness. The methods I use are all based on sound science and are beyond dispute in terms of effectiveness when you are back on the bike. You WILL be faster, stronger and fitter as a result of these sessions if you come every week.

    Hope to see you there!

    Andrew

  • well folks...we're all done for this year....clocks change to summertime Sat. so Tuesdays will be chain gang again soon.

A big vote of thanks to Andrew for taking these and for so many of you turning up.

The school benefitted by some £350 this year and we taught a lot of young riders to ride rollers as well.

Let's see how the sessions pan out in terms of performance this season.........
  • Thanks to Andrew/Geoff and everyone else for running these sessions throught the winter. They are great for keeping things going and provide a weekly focal point during the short months.

As promised i ventured into the North Herts Leisure Centre circuits session at 7pm yesterday and can confirm at £6 per go these are three times the pain in hall 4 times bigger and go on for 60mins in 1 minute excercises with the added bonus of running laps of the hall in between some excercises!! about 30 people doing it from a wide range of age and abilities.

It hurt like hell but was great training ;)
