National Trophy, Leicester R2
Team Ashwell ventured to their first National Cycle cross Trophy event in Leicester yesterday.
Conditions were good to start with although the course got muddier through the day. All three of us had a good start with Theo up with the leading bunch. I was close behind chasing furiously. Then disaster as Theos tub rolled off. He ran what must have seemed the whole course to get into the pits to get a replacement bike. The whole field then started to split up. I took 2 tumbles one on a sharp bend and another just before the hurdles.
Jon was gaining strength and also had a bike change due to a flat rear.
All in all a great experience to race with the countrys best youth riders and looking forward to having the full complement of riders when Bryn joins us soon.
And a lesson on never giving up by Theo !
Would also like to thank the helpers and especially our coach Mark for a great day out.
