I had a CAAD 9 (subsequently nicked) which was very good. The CAAD range has good write ups. I actually found Wheelies OK and if you buy through them via the insurance company they should add their discount they receive onto the bike.. i.e. £500 that you're insured for plus 30% (their discount).... so may not be the Boardman but its getting closer :-)
If it helps, both the boardman and the cannondale are excellent especially at this price level, i have both brands and have been very happy.
So the main difference for you is, i think in the groupset. the current boardman comp comes with sram apex (i think) which is superb and is much better than the shimano sora which is shimanos lowest groupset. Its fine but works a little differently to the rest of the shimano stuff.
Boardman also has good mavic wheels, not sure what the cannondale has.
The cannondale is certainly a great frame, but i reckon the Boardman package is hard to beat at £799.
Mate, the boardmann bikes right throughout the range are very good bikes, great value for money with the spec that comes with them.....however the way you have written it in the above conversation it's a very costly comparison !!! Maybe go Cannondale for now with a plan to upgrade groupset etc at a later date ?? Just a thought !!!
had a quick look on wheelies, the Bianchi £1200, the cannondale £1050 . that right?
I think both very good and dont think you can really make a bad choice. Both cut corners with the brakes and wheels but theyre absolutely fine, the brakes you wont notice any difference between them and the 105 ones and the wheels are always the first upgrade in the future anyway.
Probably go with what you fancy, the cannondale maybe a bit better value?
To all mtbr's Last night was the usual 7pm start ride from the Orange Tree pub in Baldock. For the first time cca riders outnumbered the regulars. We are starting to become regulars and so long as the conditions allow will continue riding throughout the year. 6 out including MC (MC now an abbreviation for Muddy Corner which is derived from Mark doing a bit of slow mo mud diving around Benington ) Alec, retro Vince and Malcolm who I now know has seen sense and joins us on Sunday club runs. Is this malc who is signed up for Portugal?
Quite a long ride out through Clothall, Weston, Benington, Walkern, Weston again and back to the pub for about 9.45 and a big bowl of chips. The tracks are getting sticky in places now and we had a few comedy moments throughout the ride which kept us all smiling.
For all you off roaders out there, round 11 of the Eastern CycloCross League is tommorow, Saturday, at Redgrave nr Bury St Edmunds - Vets & Women at 11am and seniors at 13.45 - so if you fancy some real fast mud-action we'll see you there......

It certainly looks like the Baordman actually has slightly 'better' (higher spec) components than the Cannondale...
Should have final conversation with the Insurance company today...

have a look at Kouta. Phil Corley now has them in stock. very good bikes with good spec.
Cannondale very good bikes.you pay for the frame hence the low spec on them.
