Saturday 18th Feb 9.30am ride

edited February 2012 in Club runs
Hello All,

Milder tomorrow (siberia can keep its rubbish weather !), but maybe a bit damp.

As we've all not been out for a few weeks, thought that we could do the classic two loops winter ride (first loop 21, 2nd 14 miles). Scope to cut down the second loop too if needs be.

See you in the morning,

Eighteen of us out this morning for the two loop challenge. Slight deviation from the posted route as I had big of a 'navigational black-spot' in Potton, so went instead to Hatley, down Croyden hill and the back to Guilden.

Second loop was a total killer ! From Guilden joined the TT route and got the full force of a brutal almost gale force wind up the hill to Eyeworth. Think I might have been reduced to almost walking pace at one point. Northfields road was every man(and woman) for himself so we arrived back at the tuns ragged & windswept !

37 hard miles @ 14.5 and the lesson learnt that 'the wind is not your friend!!'

    Thanks all for the ride.

  • That wind was a right beeyatch! People were very good at taking turns up front though - at least for the bit approaching the Mordens, after which I turned north to head home to Potton. Not a fun cycle on my own. The last big downhill from Wrestlingworth to Potton I couldn't even freewheel as the wind was more than counteracting gravity. Sigh. And crossinds at 30+ mph down Croydon hill aren't much fun either! Still, a fun ride all in all. Thanks all :-)
  • Hi All,

I enjoyed the ride and even the wind in a strange way. Great company as usual.
