Welwyn Track Novices Sessions
I've been asked by Tim D. to post the below for the information of all riders.
The first track novice session run by Welwyn Wheelers will be on 14th April 2012 at Gosling Stadium. The sessions are open to all age groups from Under 8's to Vets.
If you're new to racing at the velodrome then this is the first session you'll need to go to in order that you can be accredited to take part in open evening track training sessions or race at the Friday Night League. Depending on your ability level it may take one, two or three sessions to become accredited.
After this there are are further sessions on the 21st and 28th of April. There are then sessions run once a month after this.
Each session runs between 9am and 11am and as the name suggests are aimed at starter standard upwards. I would advise arriving at least half an hour early if not more in order that you can beat the queue and ensure you can get a hire bike if required. I'm unsure of costs but from memory bike hire is in the region of £3-£4 per session, each session costing in the region of £3-£4.
You can advise the coaches of your intentions by going onto the Welwyn Wheeler site and leaving a message for either Francis Gallacher or Peter Waghorn. If you're really shy e-mail at richard @ccashwell.com and I'll pass your wishes on.
If you have any questions please e-mail me, I'll be happy to advise.
Richard

Im hoping to join in one of the training sessions either tonight or monday eve. (hairy legs and vintage bike permitting) and then ride track league when i can through the summer.
If you fancy joining in and your new to the track get down to the accreditation sessions laid out above. shouldn't be too taxing for all those fixed riders.
C'mon fixies, this is what a bike without a freewheel is really about!
