Please Help!!! Tubular Tyres!!!

edited April 2012 in General
Hi all,

I am in need of some advice on which tubular tyres are best for general use / puncture resistance and at the end of the day will not break the bank?

I want them for use on time trials and triathlon events covering approx 25 miles each race.

Its a whole new topic for me. I have tried looking on wiggle etc but they all look the same to me.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Andy

  • personally i would go for something like conti sprinters. mid price, mid weight with a bit of puncture protection. the cheap tubulars like conti giro or vittoria rallye are poor and in my experience often go pop and theres nothing more annoying than putting on some lovely £70 veloflex or vittoria corsa and puncturing before theyre even dirty.
  • I tried conti podium... Beware, punctured every time I used them, bit like pro 3's. I now use conti competition bit heavier but definitely tougher. I then use stans no tubes inside as extra puncture protection 8-)
  • Cheers for the advice gents. I have gone for the Conti Sprinters based on budget but have ordered some Stans no tubes to help with the puncture protection. Next challenge will be fitting them so i will be defo swotting up on this before they arrive!!! See ya soon
  • If u want a hand just pop round 8-)

I use veloflex records for everything, last year I rode a lot of spoco events and didnt puncture once...a heavy tub will cost you time and prize money
