I wonder if it it worth carefully looking at without a tyre, completely stripped to see if it is out of balance??

That's a good point, do they run out of balance then ? Not sure what use I'm gonna be on the day anyway as I've been refused a day off so I will be coming straight from work, where I start at 04:00 !!!! We will see ;-) I've been looking at the start sheet, there's some quick boys there.......
