Welwyn Youth Omnium
More than 100 youth riders competed at Saturday's Welwyn Youth Omnium held under a clear blue sky. We were represented by Jon & Theo in the U16s, Tristan in the U12s, and James in the U10s. Daniel and Rebecca were there too, competing for Welwyn Wheelers.
Theo was suffering with a cold so he wasn't quite able to capitalise on his recent form, but he was still competitive own among very speedy company.
Jon made a brave solo attack in the points race and it was great to see him holding off a bunch of some of the best U16s in the country for several laps.
Tristan was very unlucky to crash, being brought down hard by another rider, but he bravely brushed off his injuries to continue with the omnium.
James enjoyed his first experience of racing on a hard track, finishing fifth in the Under 10s event (thanks for giving him such a mighty starting push in his sprint heat, Richard!)

Well done again to James for his 5th place in the Under 12s in the Regional MTB Champs at Thetford the next day. Noah Field came 10th. Jackie Field won the Open Female race and Anna Fraser was 7th.
Another great set of results this weekend for the club.
