Sunday 28th Oct 09:00 club run

edited October 2012 in Club runs
..will be the usual 35-40 ish miles at 16 mph ish. forecast looks a bit damp at this stage but will hopefully improve.
will post the route tomorrow.

just a gentle reminder that this is a club run, steady pace and noone gets left behind (not even me hopefully)
if you want something faster / longer there is an inclusive medium/fast ride that leaves at the same time.

and dont forget the clocks change, and extra hour in bed!

  • Just a note that this is the route for the Emmitremus ride from Stevenage: MAP

So for anyone on any of the Sunday rides you can either join the crowds or avoid altogether.
  • Is this the one that went out last weekend sunday 9am 70ish miles?

The last 09:00 Sunday ride that I tried to ride with set off at 19+ mph and continued thus for 60 miles.
Not that I lasted beyond the Sandon hill.
Having not ridden today, snowy Saturday, can I confirm a steady 16mph for 2.5hrs?

PS The 09:30 ride says, "Got all the charts in order and route planned, ...steady 45/50 miles at an early autumn pace, around 17 mph, leave at 9.30 return for coffee at the Tuns around 12.30. "

Also - clocks go back 1hr tonight.
  • if Steph says steady Gilgamesh, then he means it. You must have been on the med/fast longer ride last week. This is always a harder ride than the club ride....have a good one
  • i thought i'd been pretty clear with the bit that said "35-40 ish miles at 16 mph ish." and then the bit said "this is a club run, steady pace and noone gets left behind "

but just to reinforce yes this is a steady ride, with light rain showers forecast we'll stick to roads we know and do a two bridges ride, out to potton then everton, home via old warden then langford. it will end up about 35 miles which is fine on a wet and cold autumn morning, and i would guess the average speed will end up somewhere around 16 mph give or take a bit. as per a previous post the three tunns will always welcome you for coffee or a drink/snack after a ride.

ride starts at 09:00 gmt (not bst...)
  • I was simply confused a little by which groups ride at which times as during the summer I had 2x rides with the Sunday morning 09:00 massif (I thought it was 09:00hrs) and barely / failed to keep pace.

Ergo the need for clarification as I don't want to mess a ride about nor do I wish to waste time in the cold before the next club ride.

    Tchuss.
  • The info on the club website seems pretty clear, if anyone isn't sure about any Club Run.

  • good ride, we started off all together and split near ireland into club run and med/fast group.
club run went via cardington, blunham, everton etc - jon led the way down the hill into cople on his fixed, great effort.
jane led us home down northfields. ended up 39 miles at just over 16 mph.
coffee in the tunns afterwards, and it didnt rain! bit chilly for end oct though.

shaun - our prediction on sean yates turned out to be spot on if a bit late... got home to find he'd already gone!
  • steady ride today after stef and the club split we had a puncture just outside ireland after that picked up the pace a bit went the same route as the club run.

henlow, clifton, ireland, cardington, moggerhanger, blunham ,everton hill, myself and peter g split for home via sutton dunton etc leavng cam/john etc to go back to ashwell finished on 51@17-18 ish

still a cold stiff breeze but no that bad see you all next week (more miles hopfully).

    strappy.
