Mistley Cyclo Cross
Another strong CCA showing at the Mistley cross, somewhere the other side of Colchester. Weather was cold and rainy, the course was bonkers.
It was almost all in the woods and was hilly, steep descents, steep climbs most of which were ridable apart from one, very twisty and all the while the surface was crumbly mud. A bit like riding through a massive bag of John Innis compost. It made for very squirmy bike handling and required confidence and nerves of steel (neither of which i had).
The vets race saw Craig get a brilliant 7th, Mark W was 19th and i was 28th.
In the ladies, Anna was 7th and Stevie close behind in 8th.
Under 12s saw another storming performance from James F in 4th and Helena Dyce 14th. Unfortunately Lottie Dyce didn't finish the youth race, puncture?
Unfortunately i left before the elite race started but Theo was 3rd !!!! Brilliant stuff and about 5 minutes ahead of the next placed junior. Very impressive and remember this is a senior race!
Great stuff all round, see you at Grafham water in a couple of weeks for the next instalment of "ludicrous places to have a bike race"

BC report (already) HERE
(Sadly I was unable to race due to illness).

Yes, 4th place in the U12 race was James's highest finishing position so far. He won a chocolate bar as the first U10 finisher, which disappeared within about 45 seconds of it being awarded to him. Helena was first girl in the U12 race once again. Lottie crashed in the youth race but tried her best to continue.
We had to leave just as the senior race started, but Theo obviously did tremedously well. And with Theo's 1st place Junior, the placings of James, Craig & Stevie in their categories today, I expect we will have done pretty well in the club competition.

P.S. Get well soon Daniel.
