THE CLUB 10, what to do.
Hope you are all ready for the club 10 on Wednesday (well not all of you because we have a 20 rider limit), thought id just put together some do`s and dont`s for those new to this.
The organiser will be at the finish area, the concrete pad at the top of Bluegates dairy road from 6.45 for signing on. The concrete pad has railway sleepers across the entrance so you wont be able to park cars here. If you`re driving in id suggest parking in the village and cycling up. Of course the best way to get warmed up is to cycle over anyway. If you are driving you probably want to get warmed up before signing on as a 10 minute warm isnt really enough.
So, at 6.45 sign on and take a number, it really doesnt matter what the starting order is, but if its a full field we will start a few of the less swift riders first.Pay entry fee(£2). Pin the number on your back over the jersey pockets. Then do some more warming up.
All warming up should be on Northfields Road, please stay away from Ashwell road and the start area and anybody doing a u-turn on Ashwell road will be disqualified!!!!
At a couple of minutes to 7 the organiser will proceed to the start with rider 1, make sure you`re aware of your number and come to the start a couple of minutes before you are due to begin.
When its your turn the starter will call you forward and you will be held up on the bike allowing you to get clipped in. make sure you`re in a sensible gear, you wont get a good start on 53/11! You will get a countdown and a push off on zero.
At the junction in Guilden morden and the left turn at Wrestlingworth you must look for traffic. There probably wont be marshals so its up to you to LOOK!!!!. You must give way to trafffic!!!
If your going so well you catch someone, be carefull when overtaking, look behind first and you must go straight past. You cannot sit on someones wheel, if you do the CTT will strike you off, confiscate your bike and make you do detention.
The finish is where signing on was, try and shout your number as you cross the line, it helps the timekeeper.
Get your breath back, and relax at the finish area but KEEP OUT OF THE ROAD as others will be finishing fast
Dont forget to give your number back to the organiser.
Hope that makes sense, it really is simple and its just a bit of fun really the only important thing is to BE SAFE!
see you Wednesday.
