Le Tour in Cambridge 2014

after Yorkshire won the right to host the start of the 2014 Tour it was rumoured that the third stage would start in Cambridge.
It was confirmed today.

The UK route of the 2014 Tour de France

Stage one
Leeds - Harewood - Otley - Ilkley - Skipton - Kettlewell - Aysgarth - Hawes - Reeth - Leyburn - Ripon - Harrogate

Stage two
York - Knaresborough - Silsden - Keighley - Haworth - Hebden Bridge - Elland - Huddersfield - Holmfirth - Sheffield

Stage three
Cambridge - Epping Forest - the Olympic Park - the Mall

    I was very excited to see that parts of the Etape du Dales route is being used.

    I almost wet myself when I realised that the Cambridge to Eppining Forest route must surely take in roads we normally ride.

    couldn't be better for me..I'll follow the route and ride with the club day 3 to some vantage point.
    We should be sorted here by then so if some want to ride up here and then be at the start you'll be welcome.

    Brilliant route for me too, with Stage One finishing in my home town of Harrogate and Stage Two passing nearby too.

    I'll be staying with cycling friends and riding out to watch both Yokshire stages and then I can see a dash down the A1 to join the CCA ride to watch Stage Three.

    Roll on next year!

    I would guess that if stage 3 is doing a lap of the olympic park and generally messing about in London, the stage might be reasonably direct to epping forest. Maybe via saffron Waldon and down east of the m11, but could very easily be fowlmere, barkway, hadhams. How good would that be?
    Weird that there are published maps of the first 2 routes but not the 3rd, unless ive missed it.

    The only map of the Cambridge route i can find is this Errr...no

    Clearly not accurate unless the peloton is going to draft down the M11!

    Update about the Cambridge route, there isn't one yet

    'Over the next few months, Cambridgeshire County and Cambridge City Councils will be working with Le Tour, Leeds City Council, Welcome to Yorkshire and partners to determine exactly where the stage will begin and agree a specific route to London.'
