Even if only there in spirit - or simply a fan of the Dales [I read that Jeremy Clarkson has described our Buttertubs Pass descent as 'the only truly remarkable road in the country'] anyone can Doodle up and have a tee. More tees = more discount too.
Lookin good Marty. Not lookin good is the amount of preparation completed to date. I will be doing the M route (quite possibly with a bit of M-people in a Duckett sur Galibier styles) quite a lot in the morning!
Hold that thought Jane - I like it. We've got 302 miles on the road together to discuss my idea for a kids clothing label I've had going around in me head for a while.
Sure, you can go blue. CCA blue? a.k.a. Gent Trip t-shirt blue? - I think that's the Royal Blue from the selection here. Let me know if you want an alternative to that though.
The standard colour for this shirt though is Yorkshire moorland green, 'Irish Green' on the colour palette.
Apparently the White Rose Classic sportive is on Sunday 7th July in the dales white rose classic
It goes through Kettlewll so could be same area you are riding, so could be some good company on some of the climbs on the Sunday I rode this about 4 years ago, it was fantastic.
This is great Stef - looks like the first 20 miles of our Sunday ride will be riding in the face of these White Rosers. It's a validation we're on good lanes. I guess we should keep our heads up when going uphill for kamikazee descenders and watch it ourselves when going downhill.
As mentioned at the velodrome, I'm going to see if Wiggo can join us on Friday for a few miles. Better riding with us than sat at home watching Froomy on Eurosport and then Eggheads and maybe Countdown.
That would be great: Saturday will be 100% Dales action. It should be a corker. I don't know when we will set off just yet on that day, but I doubt it will be too brutal.
There's a couple more people who might do something similar.
And we might have a spare bed for the Fri and Sat nite - if anyone wants to take it. Andrew: do you need Fri nite accomm?
Would love to, being a Yorkshire lad m'sen (NYM) but I will likely be suppin' knock-off Russian fizz for several days on the Trans Siberian Express. It's bin' a reet' tough call, but ........ on balance .... !
thats me sorted - room booked for the friday and saturday night at the racehorses - will ride the saturday and possibly sunday but need to sort logistics
Train tickets for those taking the MK-Mcr train on Friday 5th morning: all sorted. You just need to arrange yourself to MK in good time Fri morning.
You need to arrange your own return train from Sheffield, Sun 7th. The 19:10 to Doncaster [Northern Rail] and then book Donny-Stevenage [East Coast Trains] is a popular idea.
The marketing machine has already started up and quality Yorkshire products are rolling off the production line to celebrate our arrival.
The bottle below was bought for me a friend and is apparently the first one sold. Two questions sping to mind: 1) Is my friend trying to say something with this? 2) Is the tea tree native to Yorkshire?
dropped in on your Saturday start / finish location of Kettlewell yesterday. Stunningly beautiful riverside village with lots of pubs and places to eat. We were visiting farming friends who live in Buckden, so I've booked roadside location for the tour next year. All b&b have already been booked in the area.
Your coffee stop the Dales Cycling Centre is a perfect choice Martin. Everything you could want. good cake/coffee/cycling oriented grub and drink. They have 14 beds at £28 p.p. b&b showers/drying room/bike repairs/secure, locked bike storage and are taking bookings now for 2014 for camping on site. Your route is seriously hilly so have fun all. The section from Thwaite to Reeth is part of my Stang/Tan Hill/Arkengarthdale/Stang loop. You are in for a treat.
Firstly, I've gone through the GPS mapped routes and found and corrected a few wayward directions. I'm quite impressed with RideWithGPS.com and its auto-routing, but it does like to throw in the occasional diversion through someone's living room and outdoor lavatory. I can't guarantee I've found all the glitches - but anyone with a Garmin: please reload the routes from here below and sorry for the hassle.
Note: this is a new link to an all-improved Stage 2 that now takes in all the climbs featured by that Greatest Hill Climbs bloke. Essentially, it's a different ending to the Sheffield bit, that's less A-road too;
Here is a download link to the three days of riding as Profiles that I will be taping to my top tube. I find this sort of thing 49% devastating because of what's to ride, 51% motivating as it preps you for what lies ahead.
The noted climbs from the Top 100 Hill Climbs are diagonally positioned. And I've highlighted likely stop-off points for breaks/lunch. Though, of course, there'll be a large element of freestyling on all of this.
Finally
T-shirts should arrive imminently. I can dish out in Kettlewell. I've had to change the 'ink' colour to pure white. They couldn't do my off-white Yorkshire sheep fleece shade.
Of course, Stef, Andrew R, James D and Phil K are with the group on Saturday. Phil might do Sunday too, and Vince's mate Tony will join us from about 30 miles in til Haworth on Sunday too. We'll see Geoff for a coffee on Saturday at the Dales Cycle Centre.
I've just looked up a nice stat. Over the three days we'll be climbing 1,000ft more than the top of Everest from sea level [29,000ft]. I'm going to see if Sherpa Tensing can be my stoker on a tandem.

Seriously though, any chance it could be blue-ish rather than green?

the last day looks horrific. it's weird though, because it should all be downhill according to the map
