Hillingdon Winter series 2/2/13 Race Report

Yesterday Theo, Jon , Bryn and me competed in the 3rd cat race at Hillingdon as our first race as juniors. We arrived well in time to get changed, warmed up and ready. We got to the start however the race was delayed due to a 4th cat crash therefore the 3rd's went round together waiting for the start. We started the race and were all near the front of the bunch, our intention to go with breaks instead of making them. Theo and me got in a few breaks but they were unsuccessful so then we stayed in the bunch ready to lead out Jon for the sprint. Bryn did a brilliant job on the front. With about 3 laps to go we tried to get Jon up the bunch with the lead out train behind however unfortunately we caught the E,1,2 race and it all got merged and messy. Everyone finished in the group and apart from the races getting mixed we had a very strong lead out train. This is a very strong start for the junior squad and hopefully we have a good season ahead! We were also in the company of Sean Yates in the peleton which was very cool!

yeah it was a bit of a shame about that there was 2 races going on, but there is still a lot i've learnt from the race, and how comfortable i felt once being back into the peloton again. bring on next week!
