  • "Vote on the proposal that all members regardless of age should have voting rights." < brilliant :)
  • I will be there to see what all the fuss is about.
Plus if anyone wants to talk to me about the club putting on an open TT next year???
We are the only club in the area who doesn't, and i have an idea for one.
And i'd also like to discuss better advertising the availability and prices of club kit.

I just want to clarify my Open TT idea so anyone with an interest is better informed and can highlight their suggestions to change and improve it.
My intention is to run an event to be included in the London North Millennium Trophy series (details and current applicable events here). This year event #7 is the Hitchin Nomads 25 this Saturday, then the final event #8 isn't until mid September which is a huge gap. It would be good to have something in between. (note this is for next year, not this year)
Regarding a course to use, I don't particularly want to use any of the current open courses. The F14/25 is used fairly often throughout the year, us hosting this would be nothing new or interesting really. I don't think a 10 is worthwhile as a Spoco, they don't provide a good test and aren't as well supported by riders compared to a 25. As an indication, the Hitchin Nomads 25 has 60 entries and this is consistent for this course. It's a decent number and bearing in mind it would be our first organised open, a good number to manage if we got that.
So my idea is to submit a new 25 mile course to be approved and used for this event. The emphasis is on it being local to Ashwell, which i think is important so us as a club can be more involved (and get helpers).
I have already spoken to the district open secretary regarding all the above, to get an idea of what is required of a course. I have come up with this: Potential Route
Being a Spoco it needs to be hilly and right turns are allowed, i have included just one after Edworth (they just need to be marshalled). The difficulty round here is the A505 and A1198 getting in the way and we can't really go through Ashwell itself as the high street is too narrow, so this is the best i think i can come up with. But if anyone else has any ideas then it would be great to hear them.

Can i just add i have zero experience of organising an event, so would need help & advice from those who have. (Carmelo!)
  • Chris,

You are quite right that we could do with an open TT, a club of our size should host one and a spoco type event of around 60 riders looks like a great place to start. We can talk more at the AGM, ive added it to the agenda above. Good initiative.
  • Can i just pass on my thanks to the CCA powers for the AGM, very interesting to hear what is in the pipeline for 2014, will be a BIG year for CCA!
