Interclub 30, this Sunday 26th May

edited May 2013 in Time Trial
Its the IC 30 on Sunday, hosted by HNCC, please enter by the Beds road entry system ASAP as James Gomm wants to put the start sheet together by the middle of the week.

Also the course has been slightly changed, details from James below

Hi All,

Due to some inconveniently placed roadworks with traffic light control on the B658 in two places between Shefford and the Broom crossroads, we are forced to run a slightly different course to last year (the distance with be close to 28 miles rather than 30 miles). The course description is as follows:

START on west side of unclassified road (Old Warden-Southill) at GR 151428 and proceed northwards to T-junction at Old Warden.
TURN LEFT to Cardington junctions to disused railway bridge where continue on road to turn sharp left at Northwood End Road to Ireland where left over hump back bridge and continue to junction where LEFT through Southill village to Broom cross roads.
TURN LEFT onto B658 and go North to G&M Growers where LEFT to Old Warden through village
Repeat circuit once more via Broom cross roads and continue to GM Growers and Old Warden to Southill-Old Warden junction
LEFT into starting road to
FINISH on east side of road at GR 146432

Basically for those who know our evening 10 course, we will be starting at the 10 start, will then head to Old Warden and proceed to do three laps of the 10 course except rather than turning left after the railway bridge into Ireland, we will carry on to Northwood End Road as we did on the 30 course last year. The finish will be on the same road as the start, where we finish our evening 10 course.

Could you distribute info to those that are rising, there will also be signs on the day.

Could you also let me have the rider names by Wednesday this week as I will be drawing up the start sheet on Thursday evening.

Thanks
James

  • Oh and if youve not done this one it is, i think the best course of the lot, even with the changes.

Sadly im away this weekend so cant make it, hope we are well represented.
  • Cheers Tim and yes it's a really good scenic course, with a nasty lump at the start so don't go off hard.

I've done a map as there are a number of turns: HERE
  • Thats it, confused !!! May need a drive over..... ;-(
  • LOL it's easier than the proper 30 course from last year, now that looked confusing.

Only 6 CCA entries so far :( Book to ride
  • That's as maybe but I did that one last year so I'm familiar with it ;-)
  • This is always a little confusing ride! anyway....assuming sign on is at the normal place don't forget it takes a while to get to the start!
  • I'm thinking of getting up there during the week and doing a recce, is there a route anywhere I can put on my garmin or 1 that I can follow ? Good point Mark about getting to the start !!
  • Hoping to do this and Robbie promised to ride it as well:)

    Is it in the morning?
  • The Nomads have it down as an 8am start, nice and early.

I'm in for a laugh... anyone riding over?
  • I did do a map HERE

    You Sat Navvers!
  • MC - did you want this picture to be shown on the forum?

  • That map above is wrong - 'except rather than turning left after the railway bridge into Ireland, we will carry on to Northwood End Road as we did on the 30 course last year'
So it adds that sharp turn to the west of Ireland, as per my map.

Correct map, confirmed by HNCC. So from the start enter the circuit in an anti clockwise direction, do three laps and on the third lap head back towards the start.
They also said: 'The route will also be signposted on the day. I'll be doing the start sheet tomorrow evening. Southill village hall will be the hq again, first rider off at 8:01am, but details will be included with the start sheet'

    null
  • Cheers peeps.......
  • I'm sure around now is just about the cut-off to ride this for CCA points - so sign up right now if you can.

    Good luck riders!
  • Only 10 CCA riders, there's more of you out there!
  • Have a good ride folks....c'mon CCA

    Here is the START SHEET.
  • that looks a strong CCA line up - good ride to all.

Results, can't link on my phone!
Top rides guys, we filled the top places.
I died on that last hill, that was tough.
  • congratulations guys! good work... I'm not racing next weekend so thinking of turning up for the nomads 25. Will it be possible to ride if my name's not on the start sheet (even if i'm too late to register to get club points)? is it an 8.01 start or 14.01?
  • CCA won! Still 2nd overall.

Will no you can't enter on the day, like Road Races there is a cut off date, then the startsheet is drawn up. 10 days prior is roughly the cut off.
Get your priorities in order, look how fast you are on the TT steed!
  • Yay, we won, that's great news !!!! A huge pat on the back from all that took part.....
  • That must have felt like a real let down mate. Bet you feel really deflated about it:)

Lovely morning if a bit chilly. I went round in a manner to complete the distance and managed it ok. Didn't know any of the corners until lap 3 and then only just... Good course but not as fast as the last one. Need to climb better on this new fangled bike as well and get the gears to work.

Great rides by our boys. Where were the girls?

Looking forward to the next 15 miler with the best finish in the world!
  • Unlucky MC, would have given you about a 1:12.

I'm having a TT rest after that.
  • Well done chaps, some great times there and the win! Fantastic.
  • Good ride boys - some great times! I wanted to take part but I'm afraid that dragon ride training had to take priority this time :-(
  • just brilliant everyone..what a showing.

Interclub 30 - Provisional Results and Report 26 May 2013

The sun-kissed Bedforshire roads saw four of the area's leading time trialling squads battle it out on a demanding, three circuit loop of Southill and Old Warden. The second of the 2013 Interclub series saw Simon Norman (Bedfordshire Road CC) edge Nigel Hale (CC Ashwell) in to second place by 18 seconds. CC Ashwell dominated the top five places with Cameron Woolsey and Jason Stuart both going sub 1:10 for the distance. Beds Road CC controlled the places from 10 down to 30, showing strength in depth and proving that time trialling really has a great pool of riders in and around the Cardington based club's HQ.

Hitchin Nomads CC managed to place four riders in point scoring positions with Club Captain, Simon Doyle, posting 1:13:24 for eighth spot. Neil Bridgland, Steve Austin and Warren Richards all made their time trial debuts.

Icknield RC placed five riders in scoring positions with Oliver Cocks being first IRC rider past the timekeeper.

Thanks to all competitors and all volunteers who made the event such a success - James Gomm, Nick Senechal, John Houghton, Keith Rapley, Simon Doyle.

James Spence debuted on the watches and was assisted by Simon Young - superb work chaps.
