Shaftesbury CC 25 on the E2/25 Course, 15th June

edited June 2013 in Time Trial
I was meant to be doing the F11/10 on the 15th, but it turns out my 22.01 is not even fastest for the reserve list, but only just! Current 150th rider has an LTS of 21.37, the last reserve is 22.00. It's possibly the quickest field for a 10, EVER. Crazy. Shame i have just missed out.

So I've entered the Shaftesbury CC 25 on the E2/25 Course. It's nearby at Newmarket.
This is an unusual 'slower than 58:00 LTS' event, so no one who has posted a quicker time than that in the past three seasons can enter.
The E2/25 is regarded as a good fast course, so this event allows new or slower riders a chance to get a PB and post a quick time, as other normal open events on this course are just dominated by quicker riders. The aim for me is not to be eligible for this event again!
It has internet entry HERE
Closing date is tomorrow (4th), not sure of the exact time, so be quick.
Anyone else in?

  • didn't understand a word of that, but good luck. fast sounds fun
  • I'm pretty sure you're the only road racer who hasn't tried a TT yet Nathan :)
I think Ellis is a convert after Saturday!
  • I will one day! I spose I could do the one this (or maybe next) week so I can see how unfit I am atm!
  • I've done a couple of TTs but pretty sure I didn't understand much of that either :) It's a different world.
  • I'm guessing LTS might be confusing some which refers to a riders fastest time in the 'Last Three Seasons'. This is what is used to judge a riders ability and place them accordingly on the start sheet.
All that you really need to know is enter, turn up and pedal!
  • you missed out die pearce :-)
  • Would of loved to of done this but I'm on the F11/10.........lol ;-)
  • I might have a look at this, it's about time i used my TT bike, might start this wed and see how i go.
  • Mission accomplished, i can never ride that event again!
What a great fast course and perfect wind direction with a South-Westerly.
It rained a fair bit just after the start all the way through to my start time, so much there were 40-odd DNS, but us late starters got the better of the weather as it brightened up and the sun came out.
Was worried the headwind going out would hamper me a lot but i managed 24.9 ave to the turn, so knew a decent time would be on with a tailwind back, and boy what a quick blast back, i think a late 28 or early 29 ave from then on.

Ended up at 26.9 ave, 55:53 time, 4th overall and a tidy £30 prize :)

I could say thats sniffing around the club record as it's a little over a minute away, will definitely try this course again.
Michael Martin was also there, he started even later than me so his run was good, he turned out a big PB too, well done.
  • Nice one, Chris!
  • Full Results (link on the right), then there's a link to see the results table HERE. The halfway split makes for interesting reading.

Michael won 3rd best improvement, so good day all round for CCA.
  • Oooo, great ride Chris. Impressive
