Thanks, Yvonne, I enjoyed it too, and special thanks to Sam and James for showing us how to do elevenses properly! My computer played up a bit on the ride, so I don't have the proper stats, but I think it came out at over 30 miles at 14mph. I'd welcome more accurate figures if anyone can help. I think I might finally be able to justify buying a GPS unit. Does anyone have any advice?

Susan, just wanted to thank you for pioneering this much needed niche group!
I've been unsuccessfully trying to get Linda to go out on the road since not long after I took up cycling. Delicate flower that she is, she was always too nervous to go out on her own.
Since she made the bold move to join the Introductory and your ride, she has, at long last, been bitten by the bug.
Although she still nervously ventures out each Saturday morning, she comes home buzzing and full of news about her experiences out on the road with you and your ride mates.
I have long thought that there was a sizeable leap from introductory ride to club level, having witnessed the level of ability as a past introductory ride leader, which in my opinion, has certainly lost CCA some potential new members.
My only fear is that you will all inevitably develop quickly and this ride is lost to new potential members having completed an intro ride.
Peter, thank you for your kind words. We do have a lot of fun on these rides, but we don't dawdle either. The club runs can be fast but they do tend to split into different groups depending on the speed. I'm happy to have a go at the main ride, with others who have been doing the intermediate rides, because we all should aim to do it at some point. I'm also happy for others to lead and suggest routes for the intermediate rides, that's how I started.
Thanks again, will Linda be out tomorrow?
