Nasty ride review - June 14

edited June 2009 in Club runs
A sea of blue CCA tops amassed at the petrol station (in excess of 30). Club run, medium run and nasties self selected and departed leaving only 4 nasty boys; Iain, Alex, John and myself. We took the decision to head for Grafham, but a kind of unstructured ‘jazz route’; a route based on the theme of going to Grafham but discarding the convention of known routing.
NICE!
This involved a spectacular avoidance Old Warden, which looking at the map afterwards was quite some feet. Nevertheless we took in Cardington and Cople where upon we found ourselves on the Primavera route, but going backwards (we weren’t actually going backward you understand, just doing the route the other way).
CRAZY!
Thus have deviated south we were in Northill and back onto the familiar route. We kept seeing riders from StIves CC, who were not at all friendly; mind you having cycled all the way from Cornwall they were probably quite tired and not inclined to say ‘goodmorning’. No punctures meant we kept a good pace; Linsey’s tri-bars helping us as we tired on the homeward sections. Perfect cycling weather; 70 miles at 20 mph. Good preparation for next weekend’s spotives; be they fen or bwlch.
