'Tour of the Cornfields' Sat 31 Aug 2013 9:30am

edited July 2013 in General
Hi all,

This year's version will be a club run again like last year on Saturday 31st August.

Approximately 50 miles on a mixture of road and off-road suitable for Cyclo-Cross bikes but MTBs are welcome. There will be a refreshment stop half way which will also serve as a short cut option. It's a great chance to check out the CX bike before the season starts.

9:30am start at The Three Tuns. The ride will probably take 5 hours.

I will probably design a slightly different route to last year, heading anti-clockwise.

Mark.

Hoping to make it depending on slalom commitments

Last years ride was very entertaining - will we get to do more search and rescue and see more riders flinging themselves from their bikes this year.. do you think:-)
  • Dang it...want to do this but away on holiday.
  • same for me tim - i'll be in france......
  • I like the sound of this Mark, if you can tolerate someone with limited experience off-road....will have to dust off the cross bike!
  • Count me in, really enjoyed it last year
  • me too, crackin ride
  • Sorry to everyone on holiday. I'm afraid it's got to be then or we start clashing with the new 'cross season.

Any experience welcome - we'll all be more experienced by the end of the ride (and older if not wiser) is my philosophy!

Can't promise riders flinging themselves off bikes but if Theo comes there's always hope!

    Mark.
  • Hi all,

Just a reminder that this ride is on. I will probably add a shop or cafe stop into the route.

    Mark.
  • Just changed my brake blocks! Looking forward to this very much.

    Daniel
  • I only have a mountain bike, not sure if I will keep up with all the cross bikes?
  • Martin,

Don't worry we don't leave anyone behind. Pump your tyres up hard and lock out your suspension.

    Mark.
  • I was really looking forward to this, but will have to give this a miss...hairline fracture of wrist diagnosed after coming a cropper commuting in London earlier this week....don't think a few hours off road on my cross bike will count as good therapy!!

    Have fun!

    John
  • Brilliant ride cheers Mark! Though I think the heat was getting to me a bit, I thought I saw a family saloon driving towards us down a bridleway hah!
  • Fantastic ride ! didn't fall down a ditch this time. Did you see a Llama in there Nat?
