Cycle Against Suicide 2014

edited August 2013 in General
Hi Everyone,

This April I took part in an amazing bike ride around Ireland, it was for a new charity called Cycle Against Suicide www.cycleagainstsuicide.com the main message of the charity is :- "That its OK not to feel OK, and it's OK to ask for help"

The whole idea is to raise awareness around mental illness and create awareness of the support that is available in the local communities.

It was probably one of the most inspirational things/ events I've been involved with and had a massive impact across Ireland.

I was asked by the founder Jim Breen to see if I would be interested in running a similar event here in the UK in 2014.

Well, as they say, the rest is history.

I'm looking for some help in various areas to pull together a big cycle event to take place between 8th - 22nd September 2014, it will be a similar format to the Irish event and will consist of cycling for 14 days taking in England, Wales and Scotland.

I need volunteers in the following roles

Schools director ( responsible for taking care of all of the school visits and the home stays for the cyclists)

Finance director ( to manage the whole project)

Logistics director ( to organise all of the support from police and the running of the event itself)

Marketing director ( responsible for all of the PR and social media and sponsors)

The best way to show your interest is to just give me a call on my mobile 07968 535311

If you have any contacts that you feel would be great people who could support this event, either as potential sponsors or just someone who is well connected to a senior person in the police force or high up and well connect in the education authorities, please respond to this post with their details.

If you are interested in doing the ride, it will deliberately be ridden at a mild pace so we can attract a wide range of cycling abilities and be as inclusive as possible.

I hope you mind find this an exciting opportunity to make a BIG difference to thousands of people's lives.

With kind regards

Jim
