Welcome to the forum
Club night - all welcome - Tuesday 1st October
Every first Tuesday of the month is CCA club night - a totally informal chance to meet up with fellow club members for a chat and a drink. Everyone is welcome at these nights and there is no agenda or format - you can come and go as you please. Kit is often there to discuss club kit with you and offer any kit that the club has in stock. And you can borrow cycling books from the CCA collection. Plus its just a chance for a chat about anything cycling related. We have done maintenance sessions at these nights in the past and intend to do more again in the future. If there is demand for other sessions then just post on the forum and we'll see what we can do.
The next club night is next week Tuesday 1st October, and as the usual venue (three tunns) is being renovated we will be in the Bushel and Strike in the back room. People generally meet from about 8 pm and stay through to closing time, although you can come and go as you please.
As we are trying out a new venue and club nights have been a bit quiet recently it would be great to see as many people there as possible. In addition this month we will be doing a special presentation on the Ashwell Festival of Cycling scheduled to coincide with the Grand Depart of the Tour de France in Britain next year. This is a great chance to come and hear what the Festival is all about. See Adam's separate post for more detail.
Hope to see you in the Bushel next Tuesday evening.

" the big cobble-sh, the little cobble-sh, the grippy cobble-sh, and the slippy cobble-sh"
Maybe with a bit of luck, Kenny could PA the AFoC next year??
I'll also be bringing my map of Northern France/Belgium to marvel at the canal path I've spotted from Calais to Watten near Mont Cassel, kicking a few 2014 trip ideas in the air in general, discussing how messy an overnight ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland could be as the middle of some other trip idea, anticipating the 2014 TdF route [announced 21st Oct], and fleshing out a "Spirit of Ghent" big night out idea: in London, to be timed the same time as the Ghent 6 Day races, so around the end of Nov. Likely starting at Look Mum No Hands and ending in Covent Garden Belgo for moule frites. All welcome there.
And talking spirit of Ghent/Gent, I'll soon confirm a day for an absolutely end-of-season 123-mile club ride Ashwell to Wells-Next-The-Sea. Likely Friday, 25th Oct or Fri 3rd Nov as a Bonfire Night Special on half-term. About 7-8hrs of daylight. So pretty good really. But bring lights. There can't be an easier century+ ride around. Unless it's blowing a hooley. Maybe Kenny can take the front? All to be chatted on further on Tuesday. Thoughts welcome.
Festival of Cycling session will start at 9pm
