Thanks to Nat and Toms dad for doing the start gate. Good stuff.

  • Nice one Tom!
  • Thanks again everyone, really wasn't loving that second hill!!
Cracking rides from Tom again, going really well.
Shame Theo couldn't ride, I think that would have been close again
  • sorry I couldn't come guys, sounded like a good one.
  • Thanks Tim, Nathaniel and Mr Trimble

Personally I really liked the double hill format, it made for a really good morning with two very different climbs sandwiched by a sociable mini club run.
  • Agreed - my favourite bit being the sociable mini club run. The rest was vile. Note to self: "train harder".
  • Indeed thank you Tim, Nathaniel and Mr Trimble. Brilliant job all round, I was particularly admiring of Tim's LeMans starts.

Definitely liked a two hill format - another one that might be fun would be two runs up the same hill, which would be interesting in terms of comparing pacing strategies.

Well done Tom, a worthy champ.
  • Tim - I'm sure you remember that in the "old days" a club hill climb was often combined with a downhill freewheeling competition afterwards, with cranks strapped to the chainstay to stop any cheating.

It allowed proper-sized riders to get their own back on the stick insects.... :)

    Mark
  • I do remember doing those, with a toe strap around the crank and frame. good fun.

although both those hills would present some heath and safety issues with the run off the bottom!
  • Fun morning and my thanks too to Tim, Nat and Phil.

I also think the double hill worked well but I might not be saying that tomorrow morning.
Awesome Tom and well deserved after last week's effort and a great comeback from Will on Coombe!

I note only 2 from last year rode again this year, hopefully we won't all wimp out next year, remember the old adage "No pain, no gain".

The 2 climbs were a great idea. Mainly because it allowed me to make up a bit of time... But good to have two contrasting efforts that could still be classed as hill climbs. Nice to see some finish line gurning from everybody. Great effort from Gwen on Coombe hill to hold off being overtaken by Tom on the last kick, even if it did include a spot of off roading. Well held! Nice intro to competitive riding for Adam, and some classy father/son overtaking on Coombe hill by the Bambers.

Punctures aplenty, nice little pootle between climbs... Shame there were only a few of us out, it was a lovely morning!

Congrats Tom Trimb-hill (see what I did there?), Coombe Hill in the big ring? Rather you than me...

Thanks to all the timekeepers and pushers off, aren't we lucky to have such a brilliant bunch of people at CCA?
  • Was a fun morning, thanks Tim.

I'm a bit worried. Posted on Facebook that I had come first in the age 49-50 category and the De Rosa Challenge, and all the responses were "well done" and "congratulations".

Not got the heart to tell them I was being ironic.
  • Well said Will, great event, great club. Thanks to Tim, Nathanial and Mr T.
Some great rides, well done Tom and also Dan - last years hill climb was your first club run and first ride in cleats wasnt it.
This year under 5 mins on Coombe and 4th overall... next year?!

As this was the last club TT of the year, special thanks to Tim for all the TT's this year, and all those who have helped.
Good luck to anyone racing this morning, Finsbury Park road race or Colchester cyclo cross or anywhere else... take care in the rain...
