Prestatyn North Wales CX

edited November 2013 in Road Racing
We have been holidaying in Snowdonia for a number of years at October half term and this time thought we would look out for a local cross race. Luckily there was one and Jackie Noah and I all raced at Prestatyn last weekend. Felix was not feeling well :-(

The North Wales CX league run about 20 races during the season and they sort of fill a gap between the North West league and Welsh league which is mainly in south Wales.

We started our journey in appalling weather but by the time we signed on the sun was shining. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Not quite as slick as the eastern league but well attended and was just like a cross race. Under 12's went off first for about 20 mins then everyone else all off together. No gridding. There were 2 rows about 30 wide with a few stragglers behind. Whistle blew and we were off. Had about 100m before it narrowed right down so bit of a mad scramble. The other tough thing for Jackie and I was it was an hour long. I had nothing left on the last lap. There was also a run up which I could only just about walk up with care. The under 16's were stopped after 40 mins and Noah was just behind me when he finished. The sign of things to come I think.

Jackie got 33rd overall which is normally my position. She was 3rd lady. I came in 30th.

Would definitely look up one of these again.
