  • The Flailing Dutchman has got fatter
So hopes tomorrow will be flatter

Than last week's route on Sandon hills
Or the Cap'n's Chrishall thrills and spills

I'd rather sail o'er flatter grounds
Than flog my girth's additional pounds

Here's wishing that the course we make
Is flatter than a thin pancake

Now that the days are cold and danker
Excess grog pulls like an anchor

So let's head north to flatter parts
To warm the cockles of our hearts

    It's not asking very much
To please your crewmate, doubled Dutch!

  • Great. See you then.
  • Ahoy crew mates

when captain announced the route was flat
the Dutchman smiled like a Cheshire cat

no longer is he the crews main stallion
he is finding hard to pull a full Galleon

so fourteen set sail to horizons new
casual winter riding brings a different hew

16 mph for fourty three miles
the bon ami(e) was full of smiles

so join the black pig and have a laugh
the captain needs mud guards, have a bath

the pig sets sail every week
all are welcome to have a peak

and try your hand at a bit of rythme
it gets better with patience and time

    .......allegedly

  • The Dutchman's legs now feel like Gouda
Getting back to fitness has been a ruder

Awakening, after being off the bike
But I've pulled my finger out the dyke

The dampened fires begin to smoulder
    Although the body's feeling older

And though I'm feeling off the pace
It's still great fun and not a race

The aim's to stay within the pack
And not be blown right out the back

The crew all look to stay together
Through rain and sun, all kinds of weather

The Black Pig's sailing on this Sunday
Increased the fitness, was a fun day

A great morn out, led by the Cap'n
    I'll be back, or I'm a Dutchman!

  • Thanks to all for a great ride and particular thanks to James and Georgie for coffee and hospitality afterwards. Will find a I more interesting bike for next time.

Try this: remove your chain using the quick link, clean it using cheap white spirit or similar in a jam jar, let it dry, soak it in a thin tray of motor oil, wipe clean and ride away with a really smooth chain and don't get sucked into buying expensive products.
  • Do you need one more to do ?
    CP
  • If you did mine as well, would that make us a chain gang?
