Proposed cycle network for London.

Comments

  • Pie in the sky me thinks and i get worried about schemes that take cyclists off the roads, it kind of says...you lot arent legitimate road users use the sky lane/ bike lane, the roads are not for you...
  • And of course it would be free to use... Licensing for cyclists soon maybe?

Agree with Tim. We have to learn to share

And how can it possibly take 20 years to build that ... and surely our travel needs will be different by then? Will anybody even be driving cars in London in 2034?

Lots will be driving themselves in the next 5-10 years (taxis, etc), autonomously. In 15 years, probably all cars will be driving themselves. A few years after that, people will realise they no longer need to 'own' a self driving car, just sign up for one of the ones that parks itself nearest your house, and the system will automatically assign you to a car which is going in the same direction you want to, with other people on similar routes. Because all cars will be controlled by a system, the system will choose the most efficient route for you, considering all other vehicles on the network.
