Hillingdon Slipstreamers Winter Series 2014

A four-race series of (very) early-season youth circuit racing at Hillingdon starts next weekend. Hillingdon Slipstreamers are putting on events for all age categories from Under 8 to Under 16.

Ride hard but don't take it too seriously though - it's only January!

    A good crowd at Hillingdon today some of which I recognised from the Eastern League cross. About 40 riders in the U8's & U10's joint race - similar in the older age groups, but couldn't make out any CCA riders.

    3 riders representing the mini-blue train today.
    U10's: Nathan Hardy & Joseph Hadsley
    U8's: Samuel Quiggin
    All 3 CCA riders rode really strongly throughout and also seemed to be enjoying the race with some of the places in the U8's ending in a sprint - well done Samuel. Will update when results are published.

    Same format for the race next week with a 12 noon start and 20 mins for the races - all finishing by 1pm for the senior race league. I would suggest early sign on (11am-ish) as there was quite a bit of queueing for sign on in the kids races - would be great to see more CCA representation there over the next 3 weeks.

    For those who don't know Hillingdon it is a really good track to get into racing. nowhere near as challenging as Hog Hill so a good introduction. The races are well organised and the track teaches you a lot about cornering and holding your line. All really good stuff for bigger and tougher races.
    Get stuck in youth racers...You've had all the training at grass so this should be a doddle. Be safe and have fun

    Provisional results from round 2 at Hillingdon - Saturday 18th Jan.

    Only 2 riders from CCA this week.
    U10's - Joseph Hadsley 6th
    U8's - Samuel Quiggin 3rd

    Due to some confusion over the first weeks results Dave Hadsley & myself volunteered to help judge. Samuel would have got a second but missed his bell lap due to getting lapped by the U12's just before the line and cruised over thinking he had another lap - one early lesson in road racing, always watch the line for the chequered flag!!

    Great to see the lads getting stuck into the road...and its only January!

    Results from Hillingdon Slipstreamers Junior Circuit races round 3 last Saturday 25th:

    Under 10's
    Joseph Hadsley 5th
    Nathan Hardy 12th

    Under 8's
    Samuel Quiggin 2nd

    Nathan rode strongly, Samuels new bike certainly seemed to speed him up this week. Strong ride from Joseph who stayed with the u10's peloton throughout the race. Well done boys.
