09.30 ride Sunday 12th

edited January 2014 in Club runs
Ahoy me hearties

09.30 3 tuns , 35 miles @ 15mph
looks like a clear night, some frost first thing
route will depend on the road conditions , nice and easy
nice bit of bottom aerobic base training, or just a bit of a laugh

The skies are clear , frost is in the air
the pirates set forth, they do not care

Pugwash shouts easy, all to take heed
its all about base , no need for speed

for mince pies lay heavy , indulgence indeed
the crew are lethargic, slow down they plead

But spring is coming, so get out on the bike
your fitness will build, this you will like

So if you are canny, the pirates are for you
this time is for spinning and enjoying the view

summer time is coming, the mountains do call
that is for later, so lets have a ball

    ok sorted it
  • Hey Cap'n, I thought we'd given up on all this rhyming malarkey for 2014!

Managed 15 miles around the villages with Junior Dutchman this morning.

Will be there tomorrow, possible sea fret notwithstanding. Will someone bring an icebreaker?

  • Planing to be there
  • soz spring is on its way and 15mph is too slow for racing snakes...enjoy your ride I need something nastier :-)
  • Ahoy
Looks good. South East to head into the wind.
    New ways for 2014
  • Ahoy Cap'n.

Which way South East does the Black Pig tack? May meet you en route from Port Hitchin, rather than Ashwell.

  • David Jason was in Hitchin last night....think about it!

I'll be out on my cross bike, so even slower than usual. See you soon

    Ahoy fellow travellers

a crisp sunny start , but nice and easy
Rupert took the charge, when it got a bit breezy

a nice round eight, became the magnificent seven
being with old men, not Daniel's idea of heaven

Bearing east to Foxton , the crew set sail
the sky was radiant blue, the frost was pale

then the gentlemen satisfied , retired to the shed
Rumours started they where about to be wed

a couple of strays joined the pirates for coffee
some friendly banter after the christmas toffee

    see you next week

  • A lovely day for riding the country lanes
Taking it steady, no aches and pains

A touch of frost turned the gutters white
Gentle aerobic riding, to avoid a fright

Steady paced with plenty of banter
The pirates went along at a canter

Numbers down on last week's bunch
No free Cap'n's gels on which to munch

Wrapped up warmly against the cold
No sign of Gandalf, or Boris the Bold

Absentees must be resting their legs
No sausage baps, or even fried eggs

Plenty of layers, looked like Michelin
Tidy group riding, no one switching

33 miles at an average of fifteen
Enough to burn fat, make pirates lean

Ahead of next week's Cap'n's curry
No sneaky sprints, what's the hurry?

Beer and tikka massalla on next week's menu
That's if we can all remember the venue!

    See you next week
