edited January 2014 in Cyclocross/Offroad
I'm putting myself forward, in getting some teams together (under 12's only) for Mistley, end of season champs Sunday 9th Feb. If you would like your child to be part of a team then plz post up so I can get entries in once they go live. So far I have a list of possible riders; A Lightfoot, Harley Pell, James Fraser, Felix Field, Alfie Duckett, Freddie cooke, Archie Foulkes, Sam Daniels and Helena Dyce. Please can you let me know as soon as possible.

  • Felix will be up for this. Do we have to enter in advance for this?

To confirm that James wants to ride. I will talk to Freddie and Helena if you like as they are unlikely to be reached through the forum.

The organiser wrote this at the weekend:-

"Team Champs : There will be a meeting tomorrow to finalise info and I will get entries open very soon .These will be online only. No entries on the day."

  • Freddie would like to be in a team.
  • What about the, er hmm, 'over 12s'?

I'm planning on going. John? Mark? Tim? Stuart? Yourself Shelton?

  • Posted by the organiser on the League's FB page today:

"Entries for the Team event are now open ,these are through www.britishcycling.org.uk Only . No entries on the day except for U12 and U 10 riders . Entries close Midnight Feb 3rd . Full info will be on the Eastern CX website soon .Some course changes to hopefully make it more rideable except for where i want you all to get off and run but not for too long Please spread the word .Thanks"

"Teams of 3 and 2 riders to count ,all will be revealed soon"

Which suggests perhaps that U10s and U12s may not be riding in teams. We'll have to wait & see.
  • I may go. If I do, I am happy to form a team within the Vets or the Open race depending on need.

Do we know if they are three or four man teams?
  • Numbers: "Teams of 3 and 2 riders to count ,all will be revealed soon"
  • Sounds like maybe we could put two over 12s teams together then. I think mixed teams will be allowed, at least in the London League they are, so we should include Jackie too.

We had a women's team last year of Jackie, Stevie & Anna. Lindsey has raced this year too. Best to wait and see how the event will work this year.
  • Go CCA Ladies!!!
  • Yes, Myself and Alfie are potentially up for it. Is it likely to be a relay type thing or is it just a regular race with best 2 counting? I will keep an eye on the League website
Im still hoping for a tandem category!
  • Last year it was best 3 riders from a team which could consist of 3 or 4 riders from the same category. Everyone rides their usual race within the usual schedule. Composite teams were allowed last year too.

The year before that it was more complicated, and can't remember what happened before that.

All the Fields are up for this. Just checked out BC again. Looks like it is live now at the proper £11 entry price (it said £14 earlier) Couple of entries already. Think is best to enter and then we can pick teams and send name to organiser.

The year before last I think we did ok because the ladies counted. Last year was a bit of a mess. I seem to remember getting a medal then having to give it back :-( so close to glory

More importantly we need our top scorers out this weekend to secure 2nd place in the league.
  • Daniel,

What about John polak me and your good self? Team Viagra, cos we ride harder :-)

    Shelton
  • Sorry to let the CCA ladies down but I'm ruled out for at least a month with a wrist problem. Doctors orders - no cycling - gutted.

Let's hope mixed teams are allowed!
  • Hadnt realised that Lindsey...bummer, you were going so well.

Regarding keeping our second spot in the league, we will only loose it if Lee valley win the day and we score less than 92. Ideally we want Welwyn to win and then we will secure second but as they have a central league race on Sunday maybe they wont be out in force.
We wont have Theo either, but im sure with the Lightfoot boys, VP and Jackie we can muster 92 points. Will be an exciting finish though for sure!
  • Not so sure about those 92 points... I believe Adam won't be there either. Not sure about young Mark. The other CCA U12s and U10s will need to carry the hopes of a nation instead!
  • Shelton are you eligable to ride the 11:45 race? LINK

    Daniel
  • Daniel,

Don't think they will let me ride with the women will they! I don't know as I'm 44 not quiet ready for the rocking chair yet. Iv'e got a feeling I maybe able to ride in that cat, the rules appear to be misleading.

    Shelton
  • I think Lee valleys worst counting round is 92, so if they win that will be scrubbed and they will go up 8 points. We are currently 8 points ahead so will tie, although we might have a higher total. i could have that all wrong of course.

If we dont have the Lightfoot duo either we might have to take the approach of making sure LV dont win! I am in no way suggesting blocking, shoving or otherwise interfering with blue and green riders....just to be clear ;)
  • Shelton,
It is misleading as the BC rider cat is 'Vet 40-49, Vet 50+', but the race title is something else.

However if you were a lady, or could become one, it would help the ladies team who seem to have lost Lindsey for the time being. Come on, we all have to make sacrifices from time to time...

    Daniel
  • I'll question Susannah on Saturday. It would be best if we could all enter in the morning race, as then we would be assured of putting together one team, and two if the stars are aligned.
  • Daniel,

So I can ride the 11.45 race rite? so I only have to blow out of my a*se for 40 mins sounds good to me, woo hoo....

    Shelton
  • That's what I am going to ask Susannah about Shelton. There appears to be some uncertainty about whether you can.
  • Organiser says the same rules as usual are being used - the split is at age 45 as normal.
  • Looks like I'm gonna be a Larry loner for this one and do the full hour... :-(

    Slow Poke Shelton
  • Are you coming to Bury tomorrow Shelton? Let's discuss there. Daniel and I will ride in the afternoon race if you are committed to going and the organizer doesn't have some flexibility built in.

It would be better if we could get you into the morning race, as it would give us a lot more team options. But if that is no go, we won't let you down don't worry ;)
  • Shelton, just want to re-inforce what John said; we're not going to leave you high and dry.

    Daniel
  • Bless ya Daniel my son, If you want to do the 11:45 I would totally understand. Yes I would like to be part of a team and I will be at Bury.
