Interesting technique for cleaning chains on fixed speed bike: VIDEO.

Though it looks like he's broken one of the rule by turning the bike upside down!

    I might even try that, although that bike is ridiculously clean already. Trying it on my winter Fuji will be a better test

    Just tried it with j-cloth torn into 3 inch strips and it works really well; just need to be careful to avoid trapping fingers. I ran it for about 2 mins after adding some clean oil; then simply reversed direction and unwound the cloth. It also works with kitchen towel - but thats a bit more fiddly as you need several strips for the chainring. All-in-all a nice technique.

    Also worth considering is keeping an empty 2 litre coke/drinks bottle. Rinse it out really well and then you can put an old chain in the bottle with a bit of degreaser and shake it about thoroughly. Have several bottles progressively cleaner and cleaner; and you can use coffee filters paper with a funnel to drain out the old liquid to reuse.
