  • I'd like to photograph that actually
  • How about a ride out to St Ives, watch some racing, have some beers and get the train home??
  • I was thinking along these lines. I even typed 'St Ives Belgian bar' into Google. Without success.

All the same, it should be good fun and I've put it into the diary.
  • Anyone going to this tomorrow? Summer's here and they're promising another warm evening, so I reckon this could be a good place to be:

'...an exciting evening of racing around a tight and very picturesque circuit of St Ives town centre... The course will be barriered to protect the riders from a large and enthusiastic crowd... it is also the evening that England plays Italy in the world cup. The 7 local pubs surrounding the course will be staying open to televise the game after the cycle racing has finished.'
  • Weather looks great for tomorrow and 3 of the boys from the under 8's & 10's road squad will be racing tomorrow at 3.30pm:

    Joseph Hadsley
    Nathan Hardy
    Samuel Quiggin

I'm sure they'll appreciate some encouraging cheers from the CCA crowd!

  • Sadly I can't make this exciting looking event.

I wish all CCA riders the very best luck; should be a tonne of fun as well!

    Here's the evening schedule:

    6:05pm 3rd Cat ... 6:50pm 2nd Cat ... 7:35pm Women E/1/2/3 ...8:20pm 4th Cat ... 9:10pm E/1/2/3

I hear that Ant Morris is up at 9:10 and Daniel Maynard at 6:05. Anyone else? Neil's skin-suit is still in the post, so I guess he has an excuse ...
  • Haha was ment to be racing the E,1,2,3 Ants doing that as well.
Unfortunately I'm working and would have been a crazy rush to make it in time.
Plus I'm in a road race at 0830 tomorrow
  • Good results from the youth today in St Ives. A very narrow technical course leading to a few spills also, but fortunately our riders managed to avoid these.

In the U12's Harley won the girls event by a clear margin. Nathan Hardy was well up in the overall for the U10's, in the same race Samuel was first U8 over the line and Joseph Hadsley finished in the field. Gareth kept well placed throughout a very competitive U14 race.

There was quite a bit of confusion over placings which considerably delayed the youth prize presentations. The lowlight of which when the commentator was asking Harley which order she lapped the other girls to try and work out the placings. My recommendation would be to think about a transponder system which all the clubs could use across the Eastern League.... Maybe one for the AGM!

    How did the oldies do???
  • Podium for Ant! V impressive performance
  • Dan had a good race too - he & another rider got away & held the rest of the field to a 30 sec lead after the first 5 minutes.
Dan out sprinted the other rider to gain 1st place in the 3rd cat race.

Superb event, very technical circuit - Well done St Ives for putting this on (& all their many volunteers)
