I am thinking about a Sat morning ride as well
may go with the 09.30 Sat , looks like weather too good to miss
Are you heading via Ashwell ? could jump aboard
Wife on friends 40th weekend bash so i am on babysitting duty or 'quality time with my children' as wife has advised!so no riding at all...ship in port and will certainly revert to FDs training method or drinking anything alcoholic in excess like our normal baby sitter does!! have a great ride...weather looks fab
Pete
53 mile solo voyage (as per charts described above) covered today at 15.5mph, cold at start, warming later in spring sunshine. The saps rising, but luckily didn't see them.
So south into the breeze
Cromer, Ardeley past the windmill, great Munden, puckeridge, hare st,buntingford, wyddial, bark way, ashwell
Meet Cromer windmill ?
Good ride today, thanks shipmates. Absolutely perfect conditions. Clocked 35 miles at just under 16mph.
Comments that I looked like a scarecrow waiting for you all at Cromer Mill unhelpful.
After the 3 amigos left the main group at Hare Street, we really did bowl along that lovely B road to Barkway with the wind behind and sun on our backs...Bob had Jamie and I as a massive windbreak on the front and the miles ticked by.
Even better was the tail wind assisted run down off the escaprment from just after Therfield down to nr Odsey...managed 40mph for a distance there!
Jamie went for a long gallop from the turn past the station for the finish, but managed to get back to him...then he kicked again for the sign to Ashwell...whereupon I imagined he was Pete2 and passed him just before the line...great stuff, Jamie and you're looking good for Paris Roubaix next month.
We turned to buntingford and then back again to wyddial
Tapping out the rhythm with the sun on our backs
Adam began to feel the recent absence, but most enjoyable
Coffee back at Richards with sunshine in the garden
Must get more people going to this
Bring back the old atmosphere perhaps ?
Let's hope for good weather next week
Will start upping the distance and pace a bit
Time for some training
Sounds like the book ends made quite a hole
Clocks change, spirits high
Fantastic conditions not enough to tempt pirates writing up invoices, checking websites or babysitting. Shame.
Would have liked coffee at the Maynards but had to rush back home today and just missed out yesterday, after the back garden was like the deck of the Mary Celeste. My fault for not knocking on the door.
Jamie and I were both out on rides yesterday and couldn't afford to go overdrawn on our brownie point accounts and couldn't stay at Bob's either. Maybe that's why Red Van Man put his foot on the accelerator at Odsey, but unfortunately he had been studying Pete2 too much, whereas I have been fortunate to have spent many hours watching the crafty Cap'n sneaking past at the last gasp.
The sort of day when our sport is at its best, banishing the thoughts of the recent wet winter.
I heard the Rapha camper van is like a VW only with a white stripe on one door, has a monochrome moody interior and is 4 times the price of a normal van!

Enjoy your voyage south. There be monsters!
Due to Sunday commitments, I plan on taking advantage of an early start tomorrow.
A steady paced 50+ mile cruise to the calmer north and montainous seas of the east.

Was planning to start from Ashwell at 8.30am, but could allow you an extra 1/2 hr in the hammock and start at Tuns at 9 bells.
Wrestlingworth-Potton-Waresley-Caxton-Bourn-Gt Eversden-Haslingfield-Fowlmere-Heydon-Barkway-Sandon-Ashwell.
53 miles, a bit longer than the winter runs.
Feel the need to ride a bit further but still at steady 15mph, back around 12.45pm, after allowing for banana stop.
