Lee Valley Velopark - brilliant

edited March 2014 in General
Went to the Revolution meeting at Lee Valley Velopark last night - what a brilliant venue - just 1hr drive from Royston - park at Westgate(£5 for the day) 20 minute walk to velodrome. Amazing and the racing was good too. Just jealous of all you young guys who are going to ride there - wish I was 20 years(well maybe 50 years) younger - what a great time you are all going to have. This is surely what they meant by the Olympic legacy - having this fantastic facility just 1 hours drive away - only saw a bit of it but the road circuit looks pretty dam good as well. Cant wait to go back again - just get there when you can - you'll love it!!

  • I had the chance to race there at a test event for 2012 and it was just amazing.
You can watch the live stream of today's race here.
  • Couldn't agree more, we went to the afternoon session today. Joseph is very keen to start some track riding now, definitely inspire a generation stuff.
The points race was an incredible spectacle, and so much easier to follow the action live.
  • Evening session here
  • We managed to go to both sessions yesterday and had a great time. The bunch races were particularly exciting, so different to watching it on TV. Went for a wander around Westgate shopping centre between sessions and had a complete double take moment when I found Laura Trott and Jason Kenny having coffee!! (At this point in time, Trott had won 4/4 of the omnium events with 2 left in the evening session and Kenny had just qualified for the sprint semis). I couldn't resist, very politely, getting their autographs as they got up to leave. Later on, Kenny lost 2-1 to Pervis in the semi-final (repeat of Cali Worlds) but Trott went on to win both the Scratch race and the 500m to seal an awesome omnium whitewash!

The circuit outside looks good: a lovely surface with plenty of technical corners, a few slight ramps and a bridge over the river.
