Hardriders 2014 Result

edited March 2014 in Time Trial
Well, it did rather chuck it down at about 8.30 just about the time people would have been leaving home and so we were a bit low on numbers. Still, after the rain it wasn't too bad albeit a bit breezy and a bit chilly. 16 hardy folks braved it and was a good race with the top 4 very close together.
Second number is first lap time. Second lap obviously a bit longer.

N Hale 50.07, 24.37
T Trimble 50.18, 24.33
C Pearce 50.47, 24.36 (CCC)
J Polak 50.58, 24.37
J MacKenzie 52.44, 25.41
L Homes 54.25, 25.59
I Foulkes 56.41, 27.35
D Pedder 56.52, 27.19
R Laughton 58.23, 28.05
A Gerritsen 59.16, 28.40
M Lawless 1.02.03, 30.03
R Bumstead 1.02.12, 29.45
M Scales 1.02.20, 30.40
J Wilson 1.04.50, 31.20
E Koppe 1.08.28, 33.22
L Danckert DNF , hamstring…hope its ok.

Thanks to all the riders and to Libby and Shelton and Harley for marshalling and David for timekeeping.

  • Thanks to all the marshals and sweepers etc, making it the best it could of been, a bit gutted to do the last mile or so with a flat rear ;-(
  • Just realised I still have the race number. I'll drop the number and vest back to you on Wed if that's okay. Cheers for organising Tim. Hamstring is tight but should be okay, gutted.
  • Thanks to all timekeepers and Marshall's. Was a bit of a grim morning really especially that breeze. I'd like to claim the prize for the fastest winter bike time with mudguards and fat tyres :-)

    Enjoyed it.....I think.

Yes big thanks to all... especially for the track pump after puncturing going to the start.
  • Enjoyed that: thanks all. I was up for a third lap.

    Some great times.

  • Well done all. Came down ill yesterday and genuinely gutted to miss it, though slightly less gutted when saw the weather this a.m...
  • Someone needs to buy Tom's previous TT bike, absolute bargain for a beautiful machine!!!
  • How bizarre... Had a bright, dry sunny race up here in Scotland... I guess that's what makes it a hardriders though!
  • Thanks to Tim and David and fantastic to have marshals at the junctions, weather in the end not that bad.
Unlucky Luke and hope you recover quick.
  • Actually really enjoyed. First TT over 10 miles so wasn't too sure how much to push it.

Thanks to Tim and David, also great to have Marshalls at turns, thanks guys. Roll on 10's
  • Cheers Tim for organising and all the marshals and helpers, the sun even came out for a bit and the conditions were better than expected.
Robbie glad the pump got you going.
Nigel unlucky with the puncture, sub 50 was on, we'll all try again for that next year, but even with a dodgy knee you still have speed!
Very close first lap times too, it's tricky to judge how hard to take the first lap.

Great ride from everybody in the challenging conditions. Could have done with some sort of heating system for myself and Tim on the finish line though :)
  • Well done to all who turned out, and especially organisers and marshals. Sterling work, and yes you did look very cold standing there. Special mention to Shelton for sweeping the corners, marshalling Dunton corner (the slippiest of all) and pinning my number on.

It was a bit faster than you would have thought given the wind and the rain, but a few of the corners were downright slippery. Tail wind down Northfields on lap two was nice, it's the first time that I remember braking for the corners there.

Got back in time for the pre-natal group reunion lunch too, so all is good.
  • Cheers to all the helpers and riders. Glad we managed to get this one on this year, after 2 cancellations. Its all looking good for the club 10s

  • Thanks to Tim, David, Shelton and all the Marshalls out on the course. Legs were sore today - bring back the sunday club run!

  • I punctured twice (TWICE!) on the ride over meaning I finally arrived late, cold, wet and slightly disgruntled so didn't ride. I should mention the Steeple resident who kindly came out to help me when I was trying to get a patch to stick in the rain. I got one lap of the course done, it was slippy but much quicker than the wind would suggest, really quite nice once the sun came out. Also got some photos of the rest of you coming in to the finish. It's only a cameraphone but just about worth sharing, I think.

  • Thanks for the pics Bryn. So that was you standing by the side just after Dunton turn. I heard (thought I heard) Shelton shouting ''rider down'' and saw you by the side and assumed you had an off. Glad you didn't!

    Bad luck with the punctures!
