Friends Life Womens Tour of Britain

Very excited to discover that the Women's Tour of Britain will be cycling on my road! Yes, May 10 it comes down Broadway and turns left onto Baldock Road before heading off to Wymondley.

The whole route is very much club run territory.

  • This is wonderful. Thanks Daniel. Get your deck chairs out of the Shed!
  • Definitely up for a club ride to Doncasterville :)

We did Doncaster Street last summer on the final leg in to sheffield last summer on t'dales, so it is only right we do Doncasterville this year!!
  • There is an intermediate Yodel Direct sprint in Baldock High Street, and they are expecting the race through about 1 pm.
They are having their usual saturday farmers market and are hoping to have some cycling related stalls too.
They've made a point of inviting anyone from CCA along, which is nice.
  • Looking forward to it
  • If the weather OK, I'll be there with the kids for the sprint bit: an afternoon out in that Baldock.
  • We'll be watching this in the Willian/Gt Wymondley area about 1.30pm. Weather might improve for a couple of hours around lunchtime?!

There was a good group of CCAers out in Letchworth, stood on the "UK's First Roundabout" to watch the race come past. It was brilliant to watch all of the best women in the world racing on the roads we ride so often in training.

Nice to see Emma Pooley leading the break of six riders:

Roughly 20 seconds later Voss' Rabobank Liv team lead the peloton through. If you're sufficiently eagle-eyed you can spot both (a very relaxed) Lizzie Armitstead and Dani King near the front:
