7th July - TDF Ride into Cambridge

edited June 2014 in General
I think there are a handful of people up for this as an alternative to the 'Great Sampford' ride.

For those leaving from Royston I would suggest a 7:30am depart? Then head out on this route
That way, if there is anyone coming across from Bassingbourn / Ashwell we could meet at the Kneesworth double roundabout before heading on?

This should get us in to Cambridge and padlocked to the railings by 8:45.

Any other thoughts about route or times?.....

  • Yes that sounds good Matt.

Another option would be to head for Trumpington Park & Ride and then pick up the cycle path next to the guided busway all the way to the station, then up Mill Road.

Where were you thinking of leaving the bikes?
  • Was thinking about utilising the temporary railings on Christ's Pieces or Queen's Green.

Never actually ridden in to Cambridge, so happy to go with whatever will be easier. The busway would probably be better and obviously traffic light free!
  • Bringing this back....

Any other takers riding from Royston? Is there anyone riding over to Cambridge from Ashwell way?
  • Hi Matt

Not sure if we can make this time. Go to get kids off to school!
  • Tim

Are you still up for riding in Monday morning? I'm going ahead as planned, probably go slightly more direct towards Melbourn.
  • Hi Matt, yes that's still ok with me, shall we meet by the statues near the underpass, at 7.30am?

    Tim
  • Yep, Sounds good Tim. See you there. I'll bring some coffee and try and pick up some croissants!
  • Ah, cafe et croissants, tres bien monsieur!

I'll be working at Parker's Piece so anyone heading that way come and say hello.

Just been checking the road closure details as I'm going to ride in. We reckon the best way to access the centre is via the guided busway to the station and then turn right towards Hills Road. It sounds like they won't allow you to cycle on the closed roads. You may be able to ride on the cycle path along Trumpington Street if the pavements are reasonably quiet.

    Mark.
