Saturday 12th July 9.30am club ride

edited July 2014 in Club runs
Don't think that anybody did this route last week, as it was raining (again!) so lets give it another whirl tomorrow morning

Ashwell-Barrington-Barton-Dry Drayton-Longstowe-Ashwell - 47(ish) miles

If anybody wants to do a longer ride, there is also Paul's 9am ride to Grafham water

  • Hi, I'm not currently a club member, but would you mind if I tagged along on this one please, hooking up with you in Barrington?
  • I'm sure you will be made very welcome Kevin. We normally start arriving at The Three Tuns from about 9.15am ready for the 9.30am off.
  • Excellent. Many Thanks. I'll wait at the church car park in Barrington between 9:45 & 10:00.
  • Okay then Kevin, I'm not going to Graffam Water now and will be on this ride. We'll scoop you up on our way through Barrington around 10.00am.

If you ride from Barrington towards Shepreth-Meldreth-Melbourn-Kneesworth, you should meet us 'somewhere'!

It's 12 miles from Ashwell to Barrington so should be there just after 10am. See you there!

    Anybody else joining on route??
  • you would be averaging 24 mph to get to Barrington around 10am David......as you average around 17 mph will take a tad longer...sure Kevin can adjust for that...have a good one.
  • Yep you are right Geoff - but we are just giving Kevin an indication of when we will get there. It will probably be about 10.15-10.20.........
  • Ok guys, don't fall out on my account!! Thanks for the ride, very enjoyable. Will see you again soon.

Great route and good company this morning for the Cambridge route posted above. All at the pub set off together and the meeting of Kevin and Malcolm in Barrington worked a treat (10.12am I think!)

Linda, Yvonne and Daniel pealed off after Chapel hill to do so hill reps round Royston and the rest of us amazingly followed the exact route posted above. Think this is a first for a Saturday ride !!

I did my best Mark Renshaw impression to start the lead out train down Northfields road and sat back to watch the blue train zoom off into the distance :-)

So bang on 47 miles @ just under club run + pace. Thanks all for an excellent morning.
