Hi, no one showing on doodle to lead the 9am- anyone already planning a route? I was thinking Barton-le-clay and clappers before heading home for lunch and medals ?
i have put my name down to point out the route tomorrow of about 40-45 miles, which will get me out of at least 4 hours work on the house, so we will head out east then come back as follows:
Ashwell - Bygrave - Baldock - Quickswood (KOM points) - Clothall (KOM points) - Weston - Halls Green - Rushden- Sandon - Buckden - Barkway - Nuthampstead - Barley (KOM points) - Royston - Litlington - Maybe a lap of Chaingang route (in an orderly pace line) or via Abington Piggots, Shingay and a Morden and back to The Three Tuns.
Now for a quick reminder of the objectives of a club run.
Remember all those competing for KOM (which does not exist on a club run) must do so at a pace which does not drop riders and should anyone drift back we will regroup at the top of each hill before building back up to cruising speed.
Anyone caught pushing it on the front (this could be Moi, Jon, Foulksie, def Peter and prob Jane on the hills) because either they are a) feeling frisky b) got some fancy new bike/wheels c) cramming in an efforts, will be reminded this is a CLUB RUN not an opportunity to perform your training plan in front of us. 9.00 rides should be executed in the same way as the 9.30 boys and girls which by all accounts is a well run affair.
2 bidons will be required looking at the temperature forecast.
Ah I see - a club run with KOM points that don't happen on club runs ... and everyone rides together up a hill and then waits at the top for the imaginary riders who didn't stick together?
I'm confused. How can anyone point his/her bike at a hill and not dance on those pedals as if his/her life depended upon it ... is there any other way?
7 out with quite a few opting for the longer quicker Medium pace ride. Tom on his speed machine having a leg stretcher peeled off at Sandon.
Not a huge distance at 39 miles but sufficiently lumpy to leave my legs feeling tired. The average was a touch over 17mph and nobody left behind with the ride regrouping when needed after the risers.
James looking good on the hills and had the best turn of speed coming back into the village to bag the green as well as KOM jersey for the day.
All good and if any riders want a slightly less fierce morning this is the group to go with.
Comments
cheers
Andrew
