Club 10 Result 06/08/2014

edited August 2014 in Time Trial
Holiday time is here meaning a relatively low turnout. On the night there were PB's from the youngest (12) and oldest (74), in an easing Westerly breeze so what excuses do the rest have?

Fantastic ride from Adam to beat 30 minutes for the first time and an excellent first ride from John on a road bike.

Result:

1. J Stuart 22:34
2. M Constable 23:17
3. J Pegg 25:05
4. R Glover 25:09 - PB
5. J Thorpe 27:09
6. K Stigwood (Royston CC) 27:24 - PB
7. R Bumstead 27:26
8. E Koppe 28:13 (F)
9. D Wells 28:21
10. A Lightfoot 29:45 (J) - PB
11. J Andrews 30:20 (F)

  • Thanks to this evening's 'staff'. Really enjoyed tonight. Good riding folks.
  • Thanks all. After just one go I am now beginning to understand how it could be an addictive and expensive pastime.... Now where did I put that Planet X catalogue.
    John
  • Excuses? Well, go on, then: slightly more believable than last week's three-legged cat jumping out in front of me, I spent a section of the ride rummaging around my pockets for a multi-tool and then tightening my bar bolts on the move- surely lost me a good half a minute..?
Thanks to the pushers/timers, much appreciated- fingers crossed for no road re-surfacing next week, although would provide a valid excuse for poor times...
  • I've tried to explain about excuses and reasons. You really should get around to thinking of them as reasons. It would be obvious to any reasonable person that you couldn't possibly achieve your best time with these events occurring :-)
  • I always tell my boss that I never give him excuses.....only reasons!
  • on the same wavelength Kevin :-)
  • Were the chippings down already last night? Amazing times by all if they were!
  • No they put them down today.
    John
  • Bit too close to my PB for comfort Kevin!!
  • Ooo, what you at now Matt??? Sounds like a challenge! After messing around with my bike for the entire season, it doesn't make any weird noises and I am now comfortable in the position and used to pushing the HR. I can now concentrate on going FAST! Coming for ya!!!!!!
  • Ha ha! 27:21. Gonna try and ride at least one more club 10 this year on the road bike, hoping to have my TT bike built for the open 10 in Sept - If I build it, it will probably have weird noises too!
  • Yes, there has been times this season when I have questioned why I built one!

    Open TT smackdown then?
  • Game on! (goes off to ebay pointy hats!)
  • Where have they chipped the course?
  • Almost the whole section that combines the 10 and the 25 courses. No more PBs this year I reckon.
  • They heard you were hoping to ride it soon, Chris. Thought they'd get in there and make it nice and bumpy for you!
  • Matt, as Tim unluckily punctured in warm up this week I borrowed his pointy hat. Reckon that made all the difference so I'm shaving me legs next!
