Central League CX event tomorrow CANCELLED

edited September 2014 in General
The Central league event at Hillingdon tomorrow has been cancelled due to a lack if commissaires.

Those who have pre entered will have received an email but for those who we're planning to sign on the day, its off.

After missing last week due to an injury I'm desperate to race, so may head down to Herne Hill for the London league race

  • Damn it! was planning on signing on the line. Dont think i can be bothered to go to HH. club run for me.
    Have a good one Dave
  • HH will be a bunfight Dave. I am going to give the Lincolnshire League a try, up at Spalding tomorrow. Old school one race for everyone (well, all the adults anyway), and only 50 odd miles up the A1.

Only a tenner on the day entry too.

  • Ooh, good plan John, might give that a try. Much accessible from Hitchin.
  • It's weird, you don't see a lot of cross cancellations, but tomorrow there are three nationwide, for diverse reasons.

Could it be TPE (the Three Peaks Effect)??
  • Quite possibly TPE, the Eastern league did the sensible thing and didn't schedule a race for this weekend.

You're right about HH, a lot of Central league riders will head there. I also thought about Wessex but as South West is also cancelled that could be mobbed too. I also heard from someone last week that they had to queue 45 minutes to sign on for the Vets in a London league race a few weeks ago.
  • That would have been Daniel and me, queuing up at Brighton! To be fair, I think they have now ironed out the glitches (to do with their new transponder system).

What turns me off HH, is the fact that it's a horrible course to start at the back on, as overtaking opportunities are very limited. A crowded race there is just not fun. It's also a bike killer, I have broken more bikes there than all other courses combined.

I also considered Wessex, always good value and very high standard of racers, but it's nearly twice as far as the Lincs race, and I have never done a Lincs race before, so a good fact-finding outing too.

Just looked at the Lincolnshire results from last week and there were only 33 riders in the combined race with only 6 Vet 40s!! There may be a few more this week.

I like the timings, Joe's race at 11.15 so don't have to get up at the crack of dawn and my race at 12.15 so no waiting about.

Edit : That was on their website which obviously didn't have the full results - actually 99 in the combined race on the BC results. There's my hope of a top ten dashed.
