Interclub Hill Climb - Sunday 5th October
The 5th and last event in the Inter-Club series is the Hill Climb, promoted by the Icknield Road Club, using Moleskin Hill (between Sharpenhoe and Streatley - same hill as was used last year for this event)
Sunday October 5th, starting at 10 30am. Entries to Peter Tasker on 01582 661077 or peter.tasker916@btinternet.com
We won this round of the IC series last year ... and it'd be great to hold onto the title. C'mon CCA!

Weather forecast is looking good so far. Anyone fancy riding over there from the Tuns?
I do not even know this hill, I have ridden pass it but never up it. Always up for a new hill challenge after my adventure.
What time do we ride over?
The hill is short sharp and kinda fun if you are into that kind of thing. As it seems you are
I am going to drive over, two races on Saturday, and I have stripped bottle cages (amongst other items) off the bike in weight weenie mode now!
Humping 80 lbs up a hill takes but two things, one is gears suitable for the task in hand, and my touring bike has a triple mtn bike gear set up with a 36 rear, and the other is a mental desire to not stop, even if the Garmin tells me I have 'Paused', meaning a methodical, determination, seeing no more than five feet in front of the front wheel.
That is all.
Not speed, that's for sure!
I've just had start sheet by email and it says J Polak is no29, starting 10:59. (I'm no8 starting 10:38)
Tuns set-off time TBC - I'll look up the route tomorrow
My dream of 3mins has turned into a 'stretch target'!
3-mins-Will certainly deserves his 2nd Cat
Since I like the long-haul, the whole, "looking at and photographing the scenery" sort o' ride, I'll take it as it comes.
BTW, is there a cafe half way up, as I quite fancy a bacon buttie in the morning. No sense in rushing things.
In spite of the slim nature of Team CCA, we did our club proud. JP came 2nd with a stonking 2:18. Justin 2:27 I think and Tim just over 3 mins. I clocked 3:13 which made me 1st of the lady riders (although there were only 2 of us!)
I don't think today's course was the same as the segment on Strava, which is giving me some v slow times .. and it says that my gentle 1st run up to Sign-On was much faster than the 2nd run which was the full-on, red-in-the-face, real thing. All a bit odd but probably simply explained by the Start and Finish points not matching. It's still giving me a PB of 4:02, but hey
Okay. Clearly I am failing to link Flickr images to the page here.
3:05 was my time, happy enough with my effort, about 15th out of 27 riders; there were a lot of DNF's.
In light of the conversation we had, the Trek weighes 22lbs (9.9Kg). That then clearly explains my performance!
Enjoyed the ride back to Baldock with Jane more, lovely route, weather and scenery.
Great atmosphere again. I might have to do a few more of these up-races!
Blistering pace John!

Justin on TT bike with 54T single ring! So so strong.
Hopefully the Weather Gods will shine upon us again. Bike's in for a new front mech' as it finally gave up the ghost on me.
If you'd like a copy of the iPhone image taken on the day, msg me as I seem not to be able to post images here.
One easy way: download the imgur app and upload your pic to it. Copy and paste the entire Direct Link code (tap Get Embed Codes) where the XXXXXs are here in this one line of HTML into your forum discussion;
Select Format as HTML.
Ta dah!
If I have uploaded to Flickr, should this also not be perfectly possible?
I am clearly missing things here, so please, enlighten me further.
It's odd, but just this time away, and woking with an iPad Mini and iPhone whilst away, my MacBookPro now seems alien, being a quite different operating system / environment. Retirement home, here I come!
I have uploaded too to Dropbox:
