Beds-Bucks sportive - Sunday 27th Sept 2009

I can't make this - but I know Robbie was interested. It looks like a good option for an introductory Sportive - just under 70 miles and not too far away near MK. I don't think there's any major climbs - just a nice change from a normal big Sunday ride? Not too many riders signed up so far. I don't know whether people turn up on the day or whatever.

Note: this is the same day as Bob's proposed end of summer 100K ride - though I don't know the details of that.

    'Last of the Summer Sportif' was a good 68m country route mostly in Bucks and Beds with a few long climbs but nothing damaging. Would be perfect for a team of us to time trial it next year. Starts at Cranfield University at 9am with timing chips, one aid station after 30m but not really needed. Well worth the 40 minute drive.

    what exactly is a sportif? is it some kind of unofficial race? are there any regs about bikes etc?
